The San Francisco Bar Pilots are based at Pier 9 and this photo was taken from Pier 7 just after or during sunrise. The Bar Pilots were founded in 1850 by California's first legislature during the Gold Rush. According to their website, they navigate ships through 160 miles of North America's most challenging waterways waterways. I like the red and white reflection too . .. . This is a "must do" when you are touring San Francisco . .. Sausalito is usually much warmer than San Francisco in the summertime and it is great place to walk around and have lunch and ice cream.. . You can ride your bike or a rental there and take the ferry back. .. .
