So, we have had a plethora of male king parrots visiting us. According to my preliminary research it means that the males (at this time of year) are actually coming to get food for their mates! I don’t know if it’s because they have nested in my backyard (on 2000sqm) or if they know we have food and don’t hurt them… but recently we have had:
The Timid One
This little guy hung out in the trees squawking for a while before coming down for food. When he did, he was… very shy. He came about a metre close to us but he was so jumpy. Maybe… a friend of a friend?
This Could Be Oscar
But I doubt it! This parrot was so skittish. Oscar is so chill and doesn’t give a crap about me! He is so comfortable with me and this particular parrot flew away when I tried to put seed down for him! And why is he wet?!
The Old Guy
This guy was… a bit decrepit. I researched his wing positioning and he was either hot, stressed or scared… but he didn’t seem afraid of me. Also, the colour of his beak indicates that he is quite young. It’s vibrant and brilliant. Why does he look so thin? He isn’t wet!
The Fiend
This parrot could very well have been Oscar. Look at how much he ate! I am so sure that these males are taking their food and regurgitating it to their partners while they nest. Soon there will be little baby, wobbly parrots! Yay!
Our Oscar
This is Oscar. He’s a former friend. A mate. Sometimes he disappears - but he always comes back and his girlfriend/wife/spouse is a fire cracker! I am so sure that Oscar lives 50m or so from the house.

On this occasion, we were visited by a couple (likely Oscar and Pretty) and who we believe to be his daughter who has VARIEGATED WINGS!
Look at the mottling on her wings! Isn’t it beautiful? I’ve never seen anything quite like it in nature - a variegated bird. A family 💕🦜
A mother is supposed to protect you and if for some weird reason that didn't work out it's also her responsibility to own that she couldn't do that and the fact that she can't, makes me want to yell at her face for days
