-he’s 55 at the start of ME1

-he’s one of the first soldiers to ever be made a “Shepard”, back then they were called Knights but not anymore lol

-he’s serves as Chief Engineer in Fifth Fleet under Admiral Hackett, but is one of the Shepards selected as a prospective Spectre so he’s placed on the Normandy

-class is a combo of soldier and engineer: heavy armor, assault rifles, electronics, combat drone

-was previously married, it ended badly. He wanted kids, his spouse did not.

-maybe bc he wants kids he grew attached to Rizo and has taken on a fatherly role to her

-he also becomes Dad Figure to Tali and Liara

-he’s basically the ultimate dad

-he sticks to a strict vegan diet, but is allergic to soy

-his mom was a medical officer on one of the Alliance’s first ships sent to the wide old galaxy, he grew up on spaceships and can’t stand being grounded for too long

-prescribes to the Ashley Williams way of thinking re: relations with alien species; everything is nice and civil until conflict arrives and then all communication falls apart

-enrolled when he was 19, loves military life, loves the structure, is one of the few Good People who thrive in the military

-should have been made captain ages ago tbh he’s been overlooked
