Karoline and Xyloni are best friends from Hunter's March that ran away when Xyloni's spots started coming in, and decided to go on their own version of the pilgrimage to the Citadel, cutting up through the Underworks - where they met worker #3C33 who basically adopted them. 3C33 worked pretty close to the Architect and would sneak tools and blueprints to Karoline and Xyloni since they were crafty, and they eventually stole and reprogrammed a cogwork choirbug (TiDo).
