Whatâs Been Wrought | Steven & Maxie
Itâs been a few weeks since Groudon and Kyogre have been unleashed upon Hoenn; the damage is done leaving the sea and land a torn and broken thing. He canât help but think of it as such as he surveys the damage atop Metagrossâs back. He can only do so much as Champion of the Hoenn region, yet all the same he feels helpless to this disaster. Already heâs working with Devon to provide a form of damage control for the people and Pokemon affected yet for now he must wait for one of the ones responsible for the entire thing.Â
He guides his Pokemon down to the ground and returns it to its ball before making his way into the nearly destroyed town. Groudonâs work shows no mercy, wrecking havoc on whatever was in its path. Houses and buildings are mere splinters and the ground is simply upturned and scorched by the legendaryâs heat. He frowns heavily over the damage as he waits by a now abandoned cafe, watching as people and Pokemon try to clear the rubble and reform the town to a semblance of its former self.  Heâs been helping them with such work since sunrise and only takes a break because heâs expecting... him to arrive.
Maxie wants to be a part of this project, wants to help those in need from Groudon and Kyogreâs awakening. He exhales at the mere thought, sees a man that realizes the damage he has wrought and is trying desperately to fix it and it changes how he initially feels about him. You played a dangerous game, Maxie and now you get to see Hoennâs undoing because of it. I truly hope you realize the extent of what youâve done. He canât help but feel a small amount of pity for the man, knowing full well that his intentions were to change the world for the betterment of human beings. Itâs much like what Devon does for people and Pokemon alike, but to go to such extremes? He wonders what pushed the man so far to seek out such desperate measures and why the world wasnât good enough the way it was.Â
I want to understand. He shakes his head at such a silly thought. Understanding was beyond him and barely knowing the man himself he canât expect him to reveal that much to him. Itâs a rather naive thought and already he hears his father chiding him for it. Heâll have to try a different way or will have to go without knowing at all.Â
âThere you are,â he says as spies the man approaching. He breaks away from the cafe to meet him, long strides carrying him towards him. âMaxie.â He says simply, businesslike. âItâs good to have you here with us. We just started on this town.â Itâs obvious by the destruction around them yet he still feels the need to say it. âWe are still finding people by the minute and are in the process of surveying the damaged land.âÂ
