Yesterday, MxCC student Tyquan Crump held a Valentine's Bake Sale in the Student Lounge. Tyquan has enthusiastically been raising money over the last year and a half to award student scholarships. To date, Ty has raised enough money for two $500 scholarships this year, to be used in the Fall 2016 semester. Yesterday, Ty actually exceeded his goal to fund a third scholarship. He raised over $500 yesterday at his bake sale. Student Senate also donated funds to purchase paper goods and ingredients to make the baked goods, and Steve from Mom's Kitchen helped Ty make the bake sale items. Proceeds will go to the MxCC Foundation to fund the Tyquan Crump Higher Ambition Scholarship Award.
What is Winter Interession?
This is a very intensive âsemesterâ that runs from December 28, 2015 to January 14, 2016. Â Classes are offered both online and on-ground.
Why would I want to take a course during my winter break?
The semester is short. Thirteen days and you will have earned three credits!
The class size is small.
The atmosphere is more personal as the professor has more opportunity to get to know the students.
Difficult concepts can get more one on one attention.
You can take courses online in the comfort of your warm home.
It will help you graduate sooner!

What kinds of students graduate from MxCC? Successful ones! Christina Deeter '15 graduated from MxCCâs Criminal Justice program this past May and then graduated from the Connecticut Department of Corrections Academy just one week later. Just days after that, she began her first job as a professional corrections officer.Â
On discussing how MxCC prepared her for her job in the criminal justice field, she said:Â âI thought the professors were great. They had all worked in the criminal justice field, had real-life experience, and made the classes interesting. Everyone in my classes paid attention and you could tell everyone really wanted to be there.â
As Christina settles into her new career supervising inmates, she also has her eye on longer term goals â and the criminal justice field provides lots of options to consider. She could move on to become a police officer, parole officer, state trooper, or perhaps an inmate counselor and then lieutenant. There are many ways for her to move up in the field and many paths for her to travel. And for that, she is forever grateful that she gave MxCC â and her life â a chance.
Tyquan Crump â15 is a business major from Middletown, and he is also one of our student bloggers. When asked why he chose to attend MxCC, this is what he said:Â
If someone were to ask me exactly why I choose MxCC I would have to answer back with a question: âWhy not?â
Going to MxCC was probably one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life. Itâs close to home, environmentally friendly, and the faculty and staff are all loving and kind people. Also, most of my friends attend MxCC.
Because itâs close to home so when I need help on homework or studying for a test or quiz, I can find the help needed on-campus. I also live at home so I can go to my family members to ask for their advice. And when Iâm stressed I can head straight to the gym afterward class to get a good workout in.

Middlesex Community College is unveiling a new space on campus designed to be a fully functioning service center for students. Students will now be able to visit the Technology Center in Snow Hall, room 512 to have their personal computers serviced or get technology help.
