I’ve been thinking about this all night so get ready

Luther: English teacher and massive teddy bear. He runs an after school creative writing club (my thing is that they all do extra curricular stuff and that’s how they all ended up bonding with each other because it’s a lot more chilled out). He’s so fucking big and so fucking friendly the kids all love him and he tends to be the one that they’ll come to if they’re being bullied because A) he’s full of love and B) if a fuckin 7 foot brick shithouse of a man is watching your back, chances are you’re not gonna get bullied anymore. 

Diego: He’s not a teacher but he comes in to run boxing/martial arts classes. Originally he had his own independent club that was supposed to be targeted at adults but he ended up having so many of these teenagers showing up to blow off steam that he was like okay why don’t I just come to you instead lmao. He and Vanya are still legit adopted siblings that went through the foster system for a while. They’re a little younger than the others, and both of them used to be students at the school before they started working there. All the kids have just accepted him as their new dad but he still insists he’s not a father figure. 

Patch: Also used to be a student at the school with Vanya and Diego (#childhood sweethearts) and she also isn’t a teacher but comes in with Diego and some days will help run his classes (she helped bring a lot more girls to the club who originally didn’t want to get involved in the testosterone fest), but she also runs her own debate club once a week. 

Allison: Teaches psychology, but her passion is the drama club she runs. All the funding for the drama/arts department was completely slashed a few years ago so now she funds most of it herself. The kids all know her anyway because she was a bit of a child star but was largely forced into it by her parents and once she was old enough she got away from it and fell into teaching, and now she’s fiercely protective of her little drama kids. 

Klaus: He does have an art club but it’s not really a structured thing it’s more just “if you don’t want to go home yet the door’s unlocked and I’m here til 5 you can do what you want” so while some of the kids do come in to work on art projects and stuff there are also others that come in to do homework or just chill out for a while because it’s usually quiet in there. He has paranoid schizophrenia and is pretty upfront about it because a lot of the art he does independently is related to the hallucinations he used to get so he’s kinda unintentionally doing a lot for the mental health stigma at the school too. 

Dave: Newest staff member. He teaches history but has a degree in philosophy which he runs his own class on after school (which is Absolutely because he’s passionate about it and Loves to Teach and Not partly an excuse to stay late so he can offer Klaus a ride home). The kids love him because he’s slightly weird and actually relates to them in like a genuine way rather than being one of those “how do you do fellow kids” type teachers like, he’s just cool and fun. 

Five: That Kid that gets on more with the teachers than the other students (though I haven’t decided yet whether Delores should be an actual person in this and is his One Friend or if she’s still imaginary). His parents are workaholics who don’t make any time for him at all so rather than sit at home on his own he stays at school for as long as they’ll let him to get that sweet sweet validation of being told he’s doing a good job. When he was in his first year he used to just sit in Klaus’ art room after school until he went home, until one day Klaus pointed out to him that students can run their own clubs. So now he runs math club on mondays, homework club on tuesdays, physics club on wednesdays, sits in on Dave’s philosophy class on thursdays, and Patch’s debate club on fridays. Busy legend. 

Ben: Runs the school library. It used to be run by Pogo and was hardly ever used but he retired a couple years ago and Ben completely turned it around, painted all the walls, got comfy beanbags, a wifi connection, and he lets people eat snacks in there even though the principle (guess who) still insists on the big NO FOOD INSIDE sign being hung on the door. He learns all the kids names when they come in, and if they’re checking books out regularly he starts to get an idea of their tastes and starts recommending things for them to read or ordering books in that he thinks they’ll like. He also started a book club last year and sometimes works alongside Luther so the kids can read a book with his club and then write about it with Luther’s. 

Vanya: Music teacher who also offers violin lessons and runs the school orchestra. She’s a lot younger than the other staff and they all feel a little protective of her, but in reality out of all the teachers she’s probably the one that will take the least shit from the kids. She’s still soft though and really passionate about what she teaches, and she manages to teach even the most musically inept how to play a decent tune on a piano. She works together with Allison a lot and although she can’t afford to put as much financially into the arts program she still volunteers a lot of her time to it.
