So, I mentioned in an earlier post that the Pizza Tower responds to its master... and that while Pizzahead was in charge, it was essentially a malevolent cartoon.
Yeah. It's actually deeper than that. Anything - and anyone - who stays in the Tower too long will start to change to fit the setting. Unless the Master says otherwise, of course.
Pizzahead didn't even bother with the Cheeseslimes, mostly. The Pigs were odd enough he just left alone (plus the Pizzamancer probably subconsciously remembered making them). The gnomes he found oddly cute. And the Giant Rats he created himself.
But every single other inhabitant was a person or animal who, through whatever circumstances, were brought into the Tower... and changed to match Pizzahead's whims. The Forknights, the smoking pizzas in Pig City, the hillbilly potatoes, the flying anchovies... all of them were people and animals altered by Pizzahead to fit his "aesthetic." To say nothing of being brainwashed to do his bidding.
Which is why you don't hear about animate pizza slices and flying anchovies after the Pizza Tower, and that's why they were all running away in the credits. With the "Pizzahead" personality shattered and the Tower having crumbled, they remembered... and, being free, ran like hell. Over the course of the next few weeks, they slowly changed back.
All of this would have eventually had some implications for Peppino and Gustavo. If they had stayed too long, eventually Pizzahead would have gotten bored of them... and added them to his collection of unwillingly-altered minions. Assuming he didn't just kill them.
Good thing you did a speed run, isn't it?
