Dr. Emery Grayson Timeline
I reworked my Hannibal s/i, and here is their new timeline!! This is a selfship au!!
(Mind you this is not as fleshed out as it could be bc it is purely self indulgent and I’m not actually rewriting the whole show lmfao)
-the show begins similarly to canon except Hannibal never gets the chance to call Garret Jacob Hobbs and warn him
-Abigail is alive and goes her separate way, to college and lives a long happy life, ultimately leaving the tragedy of her father’s actions behind (bc I love her and want her to be happy)
-Jack, perceptive of Will’s unsteady nature, still insists that Will see Hannibal for psychiatric assistance and so the two bond anyway, even in the absence of Abigail
-it isn’t until the second episode that Emery is introduced via a shot of him in therapy with Hannibal as his psychiatrist as well; he is articulate and witty but obviously reserved and clearly anxious, he has secrets too
-much of season 1 is the same as canon, solving individual cases and crimes, not many people are looking at the bigger picture yet
-during this time, Will and Emery encounter each other due to their shared psychiatrist, Hannibal and form a bond over their shared unique personalities and empathetic nature
-in this time, we get to know the personalities of Hannibal, Will and Emery and see their relationships develop
-for the time being, the relationships are simplified below
-Emery --> Hannibal: nervous, crush-like feelings developing
Emery --> Will: easy connection due to similar personalities (both autistic)
-Will --> Hannibal: slowly beginning to trust/bond with him
Will --> Emery: feels comfortable with someone like him, sort of
-Hannibal --> Will: besotted with him, wants desperately to have him
Hannibal --> Emery: intrigued by her, curious, attracted to her too
-Hannibal finds Emery one night soaked in blood and standing over an eviscerated corpse, holding an unidentifiable organ in their hands
-they panic and try to run, Hannibal tackles them and pins them to the ground, shushing them and explaining that they need to be quiet, lest someone find about about their murder
-he hurriedly explains to him that this is the first time this has happened and how he didn’t mean to but he couldn’t help it (massive repressed anger issues are to blame)
-Hannibal calms them down and promises to protect them and keep their secret
-eventually Hannibal begins to realize that he must incriminate Will, in order to keep his own secret, and does so in a horrifyingly convincing manner
-everyone is fooled, even Will begins to question his own brain for a time
-Emery cannot believe it but faced with the evidence, they cannot deny it either
-we are left at the end of this season with Will in prison
-during Will’s unjust incarceration, Hannibal and Emery become much closer, Hannibal referring them to another psychiatrist, Dr. Alana Bloom so that should they begin a relationship, it would be done ethically (Hannibal cherry picks his morals lmao)
-eventually it is found that Will is in fact innocent and he is exonerated, something which Emery is overjoyed about
-the rest of the season plays out similarly to canon with Will, Hannibal and Emery trying to come to terms with their feelings for each other as well as their inner demons
-Mizumono plays out similarly except it is Emery who Hannibal had contacted previously, asking him to run away with him and Will. it is Emery who sorrowfully shoves Alana out the window. Hannibal, knife in hand, ready to gut Will, hesitates, just long enough for Will to lean in and kiss him, passionately, hungrily as if he’d been waiting to do this since the beginning of time. Hannibal lets go, the knife clattering to the floor. Will finally pulls away only for Emery to kiss him the same way he kissed Hannibal. Hannibal, for the first time, in a long time, lets a few tears stream down his face. They are tears of happiness. His little family together, time reverses, the shattered teacup does reform.
-season 3 begins with a beautiful view overlooking Florence in the early morning, it is very early and the sun is just barely beginning to rise. the camera cuts to a view of the three laying peacefully in bed, all asleep. The domesticity of the whole thing is palpable.
-later, Jack Crawford arrives in Italy, searching for Will and Emery, and teams up with Detective Pazzi in order to arrest Hannibal
-there are several episodes that lead up to Mason Verger’s capture of Hannibal, Will and Emery
-this episode reminds us that it was never Mason’s intention to capture Emery as he was not directly involved with his mutilation, but he realizes that he is a valuable torture tool in the way that his pain will cause Hannibal and Will’s pain. the rest of the episode goes similarly to canon, with Hannibal, Will and Emery escaping, and Margot and Alana killing Mason. Ultimately, Hannibal surrenders to arrest, telling Will and Emery that they’ll always know where to find him, should they want to
-the next episode reveals its been 3 years and the three have split apart. Hannibal is shown to be imprisoned at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Will has settled down and gotten married to Molly. They have a son. Emery is living a mundane life, working as a professor of physics, instead of their dream job as a researcher in theoretical physics. The rest of the episode goes similarly to canon. The episode ends with a short shot of Emery crying themself to sleep.
-a later episode shows that Will has sought out Hannibal’s help in catching Francis Dolarhyde
-the next episode shows Will and Hannibal reconnecting on a level deeper than Will had anticipated. his wedding ring is gone.
-once escaped, Hannibal, along with Will, seek out Emery
-they explain to Emery about how Francis will now be after them in an attempt to avenge himself. in a fury, they huff at them, after all this time, they’re finally back and its to bring death to her doorstep? but then, Will takes their hand and Hannibal kisses the top of their head and they remember. They remember why they would do anything for these two men. And they go with them.
-the last episode shows the three lovers brutalizing and being brutalized by Francis Dolarhyde and when the Great Red Dragon has finally been slayed, the three embrace, Will pulling them over the edge of the cliff to their oblivion
-there is a post credits scene that quickly, just barely there, cuts to the three on a small inlet at the base of the cliff, Emery shaking an unmoving Will, while Hannibal stirs slightly
cue the part where they are alive and fuckin vibing and committing heinous crimes in Cuba, while being very sexy about it!
