They passed on Reguilón -- a player who would fit the age and wage criteria AND fill a position they desperately need to upgrade in -- because of a buy-back clause. Upamecano could end up at City, our local rival. Yet they’ll relentlessly pursue Jadon Sancho who has a ₤108M / $138M price tag stuck to his jersey and whose wages increased after signing that contract extension with Dortmund last season. It’s hypocrisy of the highest level. And they wonder why Haaland chose Dortmund over them?

United sacked a manager that won a trophy and finished WAY lower than they did the previous season. In fact, I don’t think I can remember a Premier League club sacking a manager after they won silverware and it going well for them. Chelsea did it a couple of times under Abramovich and it always left them worse off the following season. Sometimes they floundered for years trying to stabilize themselves and recapture their lost momentum. But do you Spurs, I’d love to see who you could possibly bring in now. The manager isn’t the problem at United or Spurs, it’s the clubs’ owners.
I also think fans need to start realizing that in sports, momentum doesn’t always run in a straight line to the top. It was a terrible league campaign, obviously, but you finally won another trophy and qualified for the Champions League. Now you’re going to waste some of your qualification money paying off Ange and his staff while trying to obtain another manager, just like United did. Any manager worth their salt is going to cost a lot because the good managers are pretty settled right now and your club is a dumpster fire. This is penny wise, pound foolish for me.
AC Milan are bringing back Allegri. Truly, those who don’t learn from (or willfully forget) their history are destined to repeat it. For those who may not know or remember, they let him go years ago because their football had become ridiculously stale, one-dimensional, and ineffective. He had a squad loaded with older players because he’s not good at rebuilding squads and doesn’t really fancy working with young squads. He only did it at Juventus because he literally had no choice. The bulk of his success there was the direct result of inheriting a VERY strong and well-coached team built by Antonio Conte in his prime, a team he squeezed every last drop out of (see Chiellini). I knew the club would struggle once he had to rebuild the squad. Sure enough, that’s what happened and that’s why they sacked him…once they could afford to, anyway.

Don’t think we’re the worst United team ever, but we’re definitely one of the most embarrassing. “They’re almost paying for past mistakes.” Quite right, sir, quite right. 😔 It’s crazy to think we’d get more money (or offers) for either Garna or Mainoo than we’d get for Rashford at the moment.
