Belgium’s goalkeeper plays for Real Madrid, ours plays for NYFC. I mean, really, who seriously thought this would be a walkover for us? I imagined a 2-2 draw that went to extra time because I expected a slower midfield for Belgium and a more energetic and coherent performance from us. Full credit to Garcia, he negated plan A and plan B (which was basically to do plan A better).

I’m tired of the “unified the nation” rhetoric, as well. That’s a participation trophy for me at this point. They do that every four years; this TOURNAMENT does that every four years even when the US men don’t qualify. We HAVE to stop measuring the men’s progress with vibes. I believe we’ve also fallen below Mexico in the world rankings recently…I’m mistaken…we’ve fallen behind ITALY in 15th; they didn’t even qualify! We’re currently ahead of Japan, Senegal, and Norway, and only 6 places ahead of Iran. We’re not even a top 15 country anymore while Mexico is currently in 10th. Talk to me about progress. 😂
