Hydration breaks in matches held under a roof don’t really make sense.

An English commentator pointed out this probably goes back to the early attempts to promote football here in the US by dividing the game into quarters instead of traditional halves. That’s how we played growing up, 4 quarters with breaks for water and orange slices. 😋 The commentator joked that we’re having hydration breaks regardless of the conditions is because it’s being hosted in North America and a bulk of the games are in the US. 😂 I don’t know if they still do quarters at the recreational level, but once we got to high school we were playing traditional halves.
