A lot of people - myself included - really want Joxter and Muddler to show up/be properly addressed in the Moominvalley (2019) show, but... In all honesty I’m also not entirely sure how the show-writers would go about it unless they place the episode(s) about Joxter and Muddler as The Last or at least almost last episode(s) of the entire show.

The reality is that Joxter and Muddler do not have a lot of canon content from Tove Jansson herself.

The only main book Joxter and Muddler appear in is the 3rd - “The Exploits of Moominpappa”, and though all parents unite with their respective child at the end of the book, Joxter and Muddler are to my memory not mentioned again in any of the other books. (And by main books I mean the first 9 novels, published between 1945-1970). -

With this in mind that means Joxter and Muddler only appeared in 1/9 of the books, which also means that if Moominvalley want to include in/add Joxter and Muddler to the show, they will either have to... 

... come up with original stories/adventures where Joxter and Muddler (and Fuzzy) are included even after they have united with Snufkin and Sniff.

... come up with an non-asshole way to explain why Joxter and Muddler (and Fuzzy) pretty much immediately leave the Moominvalley again after being united with their children.

... place the episode(s) where Joxter and Muddler are united with their kids as one of the very last episode(s) of the show, and leave the ending a bit open on what happen afterwards.

Now, I would love if the show writers are allowed to come up with some original adventures for Snufkin, Sniff and their parents - perhaps even something about what happened to Joxter and Muddler after their adventures with Moominpappa were over, and/or some sibling fun with Snufkin and Little My. Or heck, even something that addresses the fact Joxter didn’t know he had a son and Snufkin grew up with no parents. (Unless they change this for the show and have Snufkin grow up with Joxter or something, of course. Some changes have happened in the animated shows before, after all.)

However, I’m sceptical/unsure how much original content the Moomin Company would actually allow the show writers to make, so the 3rd option is probably the most likely to happen if Joxter and Muddler ever get to be properly addressed in Moominvalley 2019; especially if they want to avoid making the parents -ssholes who abandoned their kids.

[And I guess this is also my round-about way to explain why I doubt we’ll get to see Joxter and Muddler until the last season of Moominvalley, though I still dearly hope we’ll get them earlier.]
