Lance kept counting in his head, controlling his breaths. He kept focusing on Shiroâs circles that were placed on his back through tentative rubs.Â

Lance felt his heartbeat slow down, he listened to the noises around him as his ears cleared of the blood that made everything sound underwater.Â

He started to feel calmer. He could hear everything clearly. He could feel Shiroâs touches more firmly. He could feel his heartbeat go a normal pace.Â

Lance looked around at his team. All of their faces expresses concern and slight confusion. Hunk was on the verge of tears and Coran was straight up crying. Nobody understood what really happened, but they all had their own variations of what they thought.Â

Lance stopped counting and willed his voice to work. It took a few attempts of him just opening and closing his mouth. Nothing coming out, until a squeak.Â
Lance cleared his throat and attempted again. âSorry about that.â His voice was barely a whispered and cracked on the words.Â
Everyone nearly missed what Lance said but knew that they heard the right words.Â
Keith opened his mouth to speak but Shiro placed his free hand in the air silencing him. Shiro didnât want to risk a fight breaking out between the two boys.Â
He returned his attention to the Blue Paladins and chose his words carefully. âLance, is everything okay?âÂ
Lance closed his eyes and thought about how he was going to explain what just happened to the group. He opened his eyes and turned towards Shiro âIâm fine. I sorta lost it for a second.â He attempted a smile.Â
Shiro attempted to stop Hunk from talking, but Hunk was his best friend he deserved to talk to Lance. âWhy did you lose it? Did we do something bad? It everything okay? Do you need water?â Hunk shot questions at Lance like bullets in a battle.Â
Lance shook his head. âNo I just got anxious and I guess overstimulated? Iâm not quite sure. But it became too much for me.âÂ
âWhat did?â Allura asked, she couldnât help but be fascinated at how humans react to certain situations.Â
âEverything,â Lance waved his hands in the air and gestured at the room. âThe lights, the sounds, what was said, it was just too much. I just go anxious.âÂ
Shiro looked hard in thought as he processed what Lance was saying. âDoes this happen often? Like you getting anxious and overstimulated?âÂ
Lance looked at the older paladin and exhaled. âUnfortunately yes. Anxiety runs in my family and I get it bad. So when I get anxious I clam up and my voice stops working. It happened a lot growing up. It hasnât happened in awhile though.âÂ
Everyone processed the new information that they were told.Â
âWell my boy,â Coran twirled his moustache âJust let us know what to avoid and we can avoid this whole situation all together.âÂ

Lance and the aliens talked deep into the night. They were trading stories, flirting, jokes, you name it.Â
Lance was having fun? He hadnât had much as of lately. He knew why but whatâs the point of talking when no one cares enough to listen.Â
After a few hours the party was coming in an end. None of the paladin wanted it to end. Lance because he wanted to keep talking to his new âfriendâ and the others because they misses Lance's voice so much.Â
They may have joked that Lance was annoying but they truly did miss his voice. Without everything was bland. Nothing had character or spirit to it. Lance brought a lot more to the team then just being the sharpshooter.Â
However the party had to end since the castle would be leaving to another part of the galaxy. Everyone said their goodbyes and Lance may or may not of received a kiss. He wouldnât give any details. Â
However when all of the paladins retired to their room Lance was the only one that didnât say goodnight. He simple waved and walked to his room.Â
Everyone was shock, slightly pissed and confused. Lance just spent the entire evening talking to a stranger but he wouldnât talk to his team.Â
Nobody said anything, they just walked to their rooms and prayed that they would hear Lance tomorrow.Â
By the time Lance strolled into the dinning room everyone was already eating and engaged in conversation.Â
Lance gave everyone a warm smile and waved before sitting down next to the red paladin.Â
Lance watched Coran start to bring a plate towards him, and he smiled again. âGoo again Coran?âÂ
Coran nearly dropped the plate but managed to place it on the table. âUm y-yes my boy. Itâs very nutritious. It will help you grow strong.âÂ
Lance chuckled âWell thank you.â He placed the spoon his mouth, ignoring everyone stares.
Lance didnât talk a lot but slowly he would say a sentence or two.Â
Keith almost had a heart attack as Lance shot at the training bot that was behind him.Â
âWhoa thatâs so cool!â
Pidge adjusted their glasses as Lance patted their back.Â
âHunk this is delicious!âÂ
Hunk fought back tears as he watched his friend devour his food.Â

It wasnât much at first but after a few weeks Lance was back to his old self. The castle was lively again and everyone felt completely again.Â
Hunk told everyone about Lanceâs issue with being talked over and they carefully watched out to when they talked or anyone talked around Lance. They never wanted him to shut down like that again.
