On this day, October 8th, 2022, in an alternate universe where all my wildest dreams come true, Sekai Kawasuji is born.
I’m honestly feeling rather emotional? Sekai is my oldest active OC and by far my favorite. He’s just... my sweet little guy. Just Arukenimon and Mummymon’s young son who has the personality of a fluffy cloud and likes drawing and basketball and watermelon and rainbows. When I created him as a kid, with the intent of giving my favorite characters the happiest thing I could think of, I gave him an extremely specific day of birth that was so far away... and now it’s actually that date? He’s here? That’s wild.
Anyway. Here’s my boy Sekai. With his mom and dad who love him very much and are trying their best. You can do it guys, I believe in you. I made him all good and cute special just for you. ❤️
Obsessed with the height chart on Archnemon's ref sheet
Reach out, give him a gentle pat...
It’s my ship and I’ll draw it all cute if I want to
Someone told me that I shouldn't like the Mukeni pairing because it glorifies abuse, what with the way Aru treats Mumm. What do YOU think? Does it glorify abuse?
Oh man, that sure is a question. I don't think it glorifies abuse for several reasons.
For one thing, Digimon Adventure 02 is a series from 2000. Things have changed a lot in the past two decades, including what people find funny and acceptable in their entertainment. Slapstick violence within a quirky minion squad was extremely common back then as a source of humor. Meanwhile in 2021, even Pokemon's Team Rocket don't really engage in that kind of violence anymore, relying on other kinds of humor to entertain the audience. The time period when a piece of media was made is often so important for context when you're analyzing it, and this is no exception.
Second, as lovable as they are, Arukenimon and Mummymon are the bad guys. You're not supposed to look at anything they do and think "ah, yes, this is the healthy and correct way to do things". Meanwhile, the protagonists are off on the other end fostering healthy friendships with each other and making a great effort to understand and support one another. That's the behavior the showmakers want the kids to approve of (the occasional slap to get people out of mental health abysses aside).
And third? Arukenimon and Mummymon are literal three-year-olds. Don't let their adult size fool you! A good amount of their behavior and mannerisms are down to pretty much being born yesterday and not knowing any better. Even the most well-behaved three-year-old is prone to tantrums, hitting others when they're displeased and personal space violations. And these poor morons don't even have anyone to teach them what's right!
So yeah, I completely understand the concern but like. Nah. And I really don't know any people who like that ship and want it to continue this way? We like the parts where they have great chemistry and rely on each other and Arukenimon cares about what Mummymon has to say much better.
