Oh yeah I forgot he was from Iowa. Your states mean nothing to me I can’t fucking remember where 50 OF THEM ARE. I recognize only, like, Texas, bc of sheer mass. I’m sorry but the concept of states is just wild and weird to me.
I actually just like imagining Donut in that setting regardless where he’s actually from. Hey, maybe the state of Iowa spreads over half the south in the 7th southern territory war of 2068.

like, that sounds true enough, but it does nothing to make me feel less anxious
for the other anon- if theres a unitarian universalist church in the area there r probably a lot of people there u can talk to! uu-ism involves a lot of pagans (and atheists and buddhists and stuff, it's a religion that can overlap with many others) but we're usually considered a sect of christianity by everyone who is not a UU-er so maybe that would be cool with your parents? welcome to the pagan party!
This is so very true: if you are looking for something that’s a perfectly acceptable half-step that remains within the general confines of Christianity (so, less “weird” for a Catholic family to accept), but is full of very cool, very accepting people, often running CUUPs groups (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans).
I’ll be honest, I’ve never met a UU person I didn’t like, much less a CUUPs group. In addition, our Grove uses the local UU’s for ritual space several times per year.
Of course, if one’s Catholic family has a thing against Protestantism in general (some do), it might be better to go all-in on the Pagan thing, too.
