I made this one from Zag’s perspective for two main reasons. One, I wanted the scene’s feels to really hit home. Two, I can’t draw the angles I want yet and it drove me up the wall, so I compromised.

I find it interesting how some companions literally become the Doctor’s surrogate family.

The Ponds are definitely the most obvious, since they literally adopt the Doctor, and this is made a lot more obvious the way their story arc is set compared to other companions (since they age alot more, Amy and Rory spent ~15 years on and off as adults being companions to the Doctor, if I’m not mistaken)

As Ten, he had families in the form of Rose + her mom and Mickey, and later Donna and Wilf, (Martha not so much since he never really bonded with Martha’s family)

And so when these companions leave, as they always do, the Doctor doesn’t just loose a companion. He looses the people who treat him as family. The first time was Rose and Jackie and Micky, and then the whole Children of Time gang when everyone was returned to their everyday lives while the Doctor basically went on alone. I think it was a pity that Martha and Micky and Wilf never returned, since they probably could, and that would bridge the gap between Ten and Eleven and make things feel more cohesive but oh well.

Obviously, the Pond’s departure seemed to have an even deeper impact, probably because they spent more time with him. (and on screen, since they were companions for 2.5 seasons)

Everyone.

No human being can be fearless.

No matter what they say, deep down, everybody is afraid.

But Kirishima Eijirou was 'not' afraid.

He was 'never' afraid.

He didn't like to talk about them. He never had. His fears were unknown to most, and the media had always interpreted him as brave, strong, and adequate.

Kirishima thought of himself as scared, insecure, and inadequate.

He was still working on his self-esteem, even after all the years that had went by.

But if Kirishima were to tell his friends what his biggest fear was, he would say that it was the fear of losing people; especially the people he cared for most.

But he could never tell anyone about it. Could never speak of it. Because when you're under the pressure of millions and billions of eyes watching you, your lips have to be sealed. There are expectations you have to meet.
