The Light in the Darkest Place
Laying in the dark I found myself over thinking
Every detail of my future that is usually in the back of my mind.
It is generally best to relax and not worry
But my mind is going a million miles a minute.
By the distant glow of the hall light I quickly cover my head
And remain in complete darkness. The comfort of the dark
Starts to relax my overactive imagination until
The darkness swallows my comfort and warps it into sadness.
Sadness and depression that can’t be shaken. Complete darkness.
The coldness envelops my mind warping it.
The worst possibilities popping up in the darkness.
Shadows play horrific scenes from my past in front of me.
The past creeping into my future changing and creating
A life defined by mistakes and who I am associated with
A life that I have worked so hard to make my own.
My mind is overtaken with darkness and sadness.
Tears fall down my face while my mind convinces me
That this is my destiny.
The waterfall reflecting the small light at the end of the tunnel
The realization that my future is controlled by me.
