Aberrant Human Stuff
So, I figured I should maybe post stuff more related to my writing here, and I figured I'd post a short "methodology" of my process with Aberrant. Aberrant was written after I first read Human Domestication Guide. You could call it a response to HDG, but I think that's a mischaracterization of it, and would give a poor reading experience, since it shares only vague concepts with HDG (it's sci-fi, gay, and kinky). Rather, Aberrant is the end result of the better part of a five years of of thinking, planning, writing, and scrapping. It was originally meant to launch alongside a novel that I ended up scrapping because the idea just wasn't workable for me. I won't go into details about it, cause nothing that would've happened there is now actually cannon to Aberrant. What I really wanted to explore with Aberrant was the hivemind and how it could function. What utility is the self to a hivemind? Is there even utility there? If so, what is that utility? If not, why? And so on. It's the story it is today because I wanted to post and make something, anything to put online. If I'm honest, Aberrant was me seeking validation that I'm good at writing, and wanting show I can make something new and cool and strange. If the reception I've gotten is anything to go off, I succeeded? You be the judge, go read it! Overall it's motivated me not only to make, and finish Aberrant as a serial of story stories, but to build more in that universe. (Stay tuned, the dawn is coming!) I'm also working, very slowly, on something else with Aberrant itself; a book! It'll be a compendium of the short stories (they will remain free and available if you're one to worry, like myself. New releases will be free as well). Rather it'll have new, unreleased stories that are only tangentially related to the main story. The additional short stories will hopefully tie the loose ends up, and maybe start new series or two eventually. Basically, I want money to survive and I think I have a neat way of giving people something cool, reaching new audiences, and letting me pay rent.
