Talking to Jack about funny names of places and music is a fantastic way to spend a night
Just a warning, the sex in 50 Shades is *revolting*. I'm reading/critiquing it as well, and I'm not even sure I want to continue past the first sex scene.
I am preparing myself for it.
I'm sure it's going to result in absolute raging and lots of destressing in between critiques.
But thanks for the warning =)

juniourr answered your question: I know a couple of you lovely followers are living in Ireland and learning Irish, or maybe grew up speaking Irish. Would any of you be willing to tell me about your experiences with how it is being taught and the general attitude toward it?
I’m from Northern Ireland, and I’ve only recently started learning Irish, but I’ll happily tell you my experiences!
That would be great! I can message you my email or you can message me here, but thank you so much!

Irish is taught pretty terribly, which is why I think a lot of people grow up to resent it and deride it as a useless, dead language.
Yeah, I've heard that. Any specifics?
Also, you both are amazing humans and I love you <3

I remember watching Some Mother’s Son as a kid…
I'm missing Wednesday, so I'm going to have to watch it on my own... I've already almost cried a few times and we watched like 45 minutes of it...

mr-owls replied to your photo: Yay armchair activism on facebook I’m sure Toms...
…i don’t see the issue. she’s talking about a charity, so what?
She's just one of those people who do the bandwagon facebook-status stuff and feel very good about themselves without really knowing or understanding anything about what they support. Which in itself is not as annoying as the fact that she gets really self-congratulatory about it in a very annoying way that just gets my goat.
Also, I mean there's historical context between her and the GSA (of which I am VP). I just generally don't like her and think she uses social justice as her big THING and tells people about how active she is (never once came to a GSA meeting. Went behind our backs about a couple of things, though) and pats herself on the back about it when she really doesn't do anything.
I mean, take the Toms for example. The point of going shoeless for a day is so that people ask you why you're shoeless and you can tell them about Toms and their shoe philanthropy. First of all I bet she knows the vaguest details about said philanthropy (shoes are given to "poor" children would be the extent of her knowledge). Secondly, if everyone knows why everyone's going shoeless, then no one's going to start a conversation about why anyone is shoeless, so urging everyone to go shoeless on Facebook is pointless. It's not supposed to be a demonstration of college students without shoes en masse. Dramatic gestures do not "awareness" constitute. It's just so fake and self-congratulatory and and it annoys me, especially if the pretence is that she's doing it for this noble reason.
Erm sorry. Rant happened.
I got this way after Kony too. It's just like a giant pet peeve.
