So many things to update on. So many silly stories.
I went to Ascot today. Was so much fun. Really sunny happy day. I was hoping Mr Potential would be coming but he wasn’t and I didn’t want to raise questions cos I know they’d just tease me on it and Mr Rugby Bumpkin was there. (Mr Rugby Bumpkin is another one of my housemates boyfriends friends).
Also I had a very weird night Thursday (England out of the World Cup - boo). I’d spent the day, and a bit of the week before it, thinking about the new-ish guy in out friendship group. I am 98% sure I was just confused for the day as he’s a new friend and we laugh at each other’s jokes. Listening to “more than friends” but Gabrielle Aplin. Anyway. I need to let this crush pass and then I can get back to behaving more normally.
Sometimes you have to play the slow game... but how slow is too slow?
My housemate has been sick and now is away for two weeks visiting her BF. When she comes back I suggested maybe we orchestrate a casual bumping-into Mr Potential.
I suggested it because it turned out he'd invited us both to a BBQ at his the day she got really sick (hospitalised - she's fine now), and there's been a few other occasions as well. I can't be sure that the invites are any indication of his liking me, but regardless of if they are, I kind of just want to bump into him again.
Also everyone knows that if you keep getting invited places and never show up eventually the invites stop coming... so I feel like it's our turn to do the inviting. It's only polite right?
Over-thinking things. If it'll happen it'll happen. Only interested in getting to know him anyway.
I had a date this weekend that I knew was a write off as soon as he walked through the door. I need to point out that it was a Tinder date, and therefor semi-blind. People's pictures on Tinder rarely reflect a current/realistic portrayal of the person. As it was my date had already mentioned his biggest flaw (pre-date but post-consent - which I personally think is a sign of sneakyness, by this point it was too late to back out without completely crushing his ego). He was short. Not miniature short but short enough to need to lie that he was just taller than me when really he was shorter. Now, I know I am heightist. My friends have always told me off about it but it's something I've been picky about since I was 15. (I like to think it's some sort of inbuilt genetic thing, I'm not very tall, therefore want to cancel out some shortish genes with some tallish ones.) but none the less, my whole life, if you're shorter than 5,9 - I doubt you've even registered on my radar. Back to the date, I had been considerate and worn my flattest summer sandals and he walked in and genuinely was the same height if-not-shorter than me. I was not happy. I had been prepared to give it a go, this guy had had some brilliant tinder text chat (funny, interesting and not too flirty straight off the bat) but here he was looking just like his pictures but about a foot shorter. To top this off he was wearing a car salesman (blue stripes, white collar) shirt, was chewing gum (pet hate of mine but excusable, however not for the-entire-evening) and his "not very obvious" Kiwi accent was about as subtle as a slap in the face. He was flashing the cash a bit too which I just find a bit dickish. Aside from the fact I didn't find him remotely attractive (in fact he kind of reminded me of my uncle, eugh), I must be slightly objective and say I actually had a really fun evening. He was funny and confident, flattering (I am seeing an emerging trend of guys thinking I'm funny on first dates - is this something they've been taught to say or am I fucking hillarious?) and if it wasn't a date I would have found him hard to fault in terms of company or location choice. I'll definitely be going back to the Roadhouse again. Great bar with a brilliant cover band on which we were able to dance to but still yell out a shouted conversation in the background if needs be. Genuinely good choice. http://www.roadhouse.co.uk If anything I've reaffirmed my sureness of my heightism. Some things you just have to accept and stipulating a guy be taller than me really isn't that big an ask I recon. I mean I had fun, but I'm not one to waste a Friday night just because my date is shocking. Every now and again I find my head drifting back to Mr Potential, I wrote him off a little to begin with because I thought he was "a bit too short" but it's seeming to matter less and less. Kinda hoping I bump into him again at some point.
He accepted my Facebook friend request... Rugby7s friend of friend headlock guy... we've bumped into each other at parties for it to be acceptable enough now I guess.

I was at Rugby 7s on Saturday at Twickenham. I was sort of in heaven. Rugby, fancy dress and cider. It's pretty much my ideal day out. Oh and copious amounts of tipsy rugby boys.
Anyway, the main point I'm trying to make is that I am still thinking about the friend of my housemate who came and found us in our stand to come and hang out for a bit.
You see, I caught myself flirting with him, but not in a way I've flirted for maybe 10 years (oh god I'm old). I am so out of practise with flirting in general that I almost didn't notice I was doing it at all to be honest. And yet there I was, in a headlock, laughing and trying to grab his arm off from around my neck... and I didn't even notice his arm going around my shoulder in the first place.
It must have been the beer.
The New Mr Potential
is possibly gay....
He is the son off my hairdresser, and the whole family just opened a barbers/coffee/ice cream store and he is my cute ice cream boy. I have like 5 ice creams a week, initially because they were delicious and now also because of his gorgeous smile.
My gaydar is faulty and has not once been reliable. I know for sure that my hairdressers eldest son is gay, because she told. I know her two oldest sons, but I'm unsure which is oldest. The blonde one (that isnt cute ice cream boy) always gave me gay vibes, but as previously mentioned, faulty gaydar.
So I'm a little timid to make a move on ice cream boy in case he is gay, and also because his dad works with him in the shop and what's more awkward than being hit on around your parents?
Help?
