@mp-yuqi continued from here:
Yuqi was prepared. She asked Jordan to meet her at the library, armed with several English learning books. She would no longer look like a fool when speaking the language. Or well, she would for a while until she learned, but she was determined to get better! There was no one else that she could think of than him to help.
She had stepped away for a moment to put the books on the table when he arrived. A wide grin pulls on her lips, and she bounces in front of him. She reaches forward to gently grab onto his sleeves. The woman’s powers of intuition screamed at her to run, but Yuqi ignored them completely, chalking it all up to anxiety.
“Jordan!” She coos out, smiling up at him. “Thanks for coming!” She had already been practicing during her shifts at work, and there had been some progress. However, there were still limits to what she could do. “Come sit? We start now!” She whispers excitedly, and she pulls him to a seat before she sits beside him. “Where we start?”
he does not know what on earth sparked the idea in the young woman’s mind that he might be the best person for her to reach out to when wanting to learn english. he does not know which strange twist of the mind it took for yuqi to decide to ask jordan of all people to help her. but, he thought it’d be funny to try it out for a change, and so he’d come to the library.
what he doesn’t expect is her excitement, the way she grabs hold of his sleeve and then beams at him, pulling him along to where she’s apparently already installed herself with all the necessary books. he looks them over for a moment as he pulls back a chair to sit and then looks back at yuqi.
she’s already got the alphabet down well enough to be able to read translated words, so there’s no issue there, which means all he can do is let her study things like tenses and vocabulary until they get a better grip on it. isn’t there an english language class at the university? there really should be.
“well,” he hums as he reaches out for a book to leaf through it. finding it too difficult to start with, he then spots what seems to be a school book and takes it out. “oh, good,” he says as he opens the first chapter and finds a nice bite-sized list of vocabulary for her. “why don’t you study these already while i look into the others?” he hands her the book, waiting for her to take it before he reaches for another one so he can look it over.
why is he doing this again?
