little bit of love ;;
@mpxkrystal continued from here:
(...) After dinner, the two made their way outside to sit around the fire and sip tea. Krystal was wrapped in a warm blanket as she and Airmid admired to clear sky and the stars, talking softly about constellations. A yawn finally spilled from the demigod's lips as she set her empty mug in her lap. The full-day had her feeling comfortably sleepy by this point in the evening. âAs beautiful as this is, I should probably head home to get some sleep soon.â Krystal turned her head to see Airmidâs reaction but was stunned by the three words spilling from the goddesses lips. Brown eyes widened in shock and her lips parted gently as she frantically scanned Airmidâs face for a sign of where that came from.
Her heart was warm and fuzzy, her palms sweating as she pulled the blanket tighter around her. Her mind was racing like an Olympic sprinter as she tried to process. Three words sheâd wanted to hear from her mother her whole life that she had given up on, seeing how obviously damaged her mother was like herself. Three words sheâd only heard from close friends and her grandmother. At first, she thought her mind was playing tricks on her until she saw that Airmid was a bit stunned as well. Finally, she blinked as tears threatened to begin pooling in her eyes, however, she didnât look away from Airmidâs face. Holding eye contact for the longest they probably ever had.
âY-you love me?â
she did not plan for this.
if they ever write the chronicles of airmid, it should be noted that she did not plan for this. not for any of this. not for krystal to walk into her life damaged and broken, not for her to reveal herself as the girlâs mother, not for them to keep talking, not for them to be friends and especially not for this moment under the stars where those three words spill from her lips so thoughtlessly. sheâs vaguely aware krystal just said something about going home as well, but sheâd not been paying proper attention, too lost in thought and the moment itself.
as the stunned silence stretches out between them, airmid finds herself looking at her daughter like a deer caught in headlights, frozen in her position, and in that very moment she hates herself, hates herself with an intensity that goes beyond anything normal. for how could she? how could she betray the one daughter she chose to have, to keep, to raise, to love? how could she...
krystalâs eyes pool with tears, emotion clearly choking the young woman, and airmid is aware of every shift of her body, every little twist in her muscles, everything all at once; hyper aware of this woman who is at once a stranger and yet also her daughter, blood of her blood, and apparently somehow has found herself a little spot in airmidâs heart as well.
she remembers this well, this very same feeling she had the first time she realised exactly how important poseidon had become to her. she remembers leaving that very same second, walking out of his life again for several years once more. sheâd kept him at arms length for years and heâd patiently waited for the distance between them to close all the way until sheâd finally accepted him fully - centuries after their first meeting. she doesnât have that luxury with krystal, doesnât have centuries, hardly has decades, these mortal lives so fleeting, and she wonders briefly how hard it will hurt her when this girl also comes to the end of her time on this earth. but then her eyes focus fully on the young woman when she speaks, asks that tentative question, and there is no other answer in the world but honesty.
she reaches out a hand slowly, fingers gently touching krystalâs cheek, brushing through the hair on the side of her face and then just as slowly pulls away again; a very deliberate touch. âi love you,â she repeats herself then, like a confirmation of her earlier words, as well as an answer to the question both in krystalâs eyes as in her words. she lets her hand come to rest gently atop krystalâs, a safer touch for the girl she thinks than anything so close to her face.
âhow could i not,â she breathes out next, barely a whisper, but the truth nonetheless. âmy daughter.â
