so like Moze is a gun-nut right, i dont remember if thats canon (beyond all vault hunters being gun sluts ig) but i imagine that of the four VHs in BL3 Moze is like the biggest actual gun fanatic by far. FL4K is very practical about their guns, tending to stick to what works and is not really interested in their history or brand. Zane likes to experiment and is of course knowledgeable about the different corporations and maybe also the their various histories of gun manufacturing, but guns are still just a tool to him. Amara is a diva, she wants something that is flashy in both effects and looks, but honestly she doesnt care too much because she just as often ends up using her home-grown guns, which she enjoys much more.

Moze however is crazy about guns, not just as tools but as collectibles. She couldnt tell you about the intricate details of corporate politics like zane could, but she can tell you why a specific product line failed or succeeded and the technical aspects behind basically any gun you hand her (zane probably could do that too, fl4k maybe, amara ehhh tech doesnt seem like her thing). so yeah, one of the things moze loves most in the world, next to iron bear, is obscure and/or rare guns.

so what if the hellwalker was one of those things? its a jakobs gun, which isnt really something moze is usually interested in using, but the hellwalker would be an exception. unlike most jakobs guns, the hellwalker deals elemental fire damage. it was well received by the market, with nothing but glowing reviews, however, after a short time jakobs eventually still scrapped the product due to production expenses. the additional fire damage (which i imagine in-universe could be the result of a special type of bullets or something idk) made the barrel run so hot that early prototypes tended to melt after one shot. because Jakobs as a company have so little practice with developing elemental weapons, and their competitors werent keen on helping them, they had to develop a new technique to prevent this from happening, as the heat from the hellwalker was much higher than any elemental gun they had designed before. and even then, the barrels on the final product still get so hot they end up glowing red and smoking when shooting (like in the game), and maybe need special care to make sure they dont melt from overuse. so they cancelled the product line, meaning maybe only a hundred or so hellwalker's are out there in the galaxy. a very rare, fancy-looking shotgun that can blow anything away with one shot and set everything else ablaze.

sounds like the perfect gun for amara.
