CULT OF THE MOTHPONY
[ poorly TRANSLATED (sorry) ]
In the northern regions of Old Appleloosa, you can find mysterious ritual altars. These enormous structures, built from branches and ropes with nailed-on body parts of various creatures. From a distance, this semi-organic mass forms monstrous figures that look like insects with hooves and a horn. These structures belong to one of the Mothpony Cult divisions, specifically its most radical faction — the Followers of the Chitinwinged. The cultists of the Mothpony Cult believe that Queen Chrysalis is a messenger of death and drastic change, for her very appearance in Canterlot foretold its future fall and contamination by the Pink Cloud. Unlike the more peaceful faction (the Cult of the Changed), the Followers do not worship changelings as a sacred race close to the Queen; instead, they kill them en masse in an attempt to ritually summon Chrysalis herself. After all, the Queen of Changelings must eventually appear to protect her minions and raise a new army. The Followers of the Chitinwing are hostile to anypony outside their sect and attack strangers immediately upon their arrival. They can often be seen praying at the altars, begging the messenger of death, Chrysalis, to appear with a message for their Great Salvation. These ponies believe that their worship is the highest form of love, which the Queen of Changelings consumes, and thus their fate will be kind. Many rituals of the Mothpony Cult can easily be mistaken for necromantic ones, as they also use death-related symbols and things. Beside their ritual fires, there are many figures made of flesh and bone, tubs of blood, and inscribed magical symbols. However, almost none of the cultists truly have the ability to cast necromancy spells. Their dark rituals usually carry no magical consequences and are more an act of desperation.
