Accidentally became a ceanothus silk moth (Hyalophora euryalus) daddy tonight. This is one of the largest native moths in North America. She is beautiful and is laying the rest of her eggs in one of my planter boxes. Wow! I'm honestly so honored.

GUYS MY MOTHS HATCHED!!!!!! i was so scared i killed them omg. i found them when they were teeny tiny caterpillars, on april 28th. the second picture of them is from may 9th, a day or two before they started pupating. and then the third picture is from today!! i wish i'd been able to see them hatch, but i'm honestly just so happy they're alive and okay that idc.
they're copper underwing moths, Amphipyra pyramidea. their names are sherman and herman :) tagging @onenicebugperday because i'm proud of myself ( & my moths!!)
