What about a fae au where they’re not really fae but just giant moths that cause trouble and keep (lovingly) harassing their favourite human neighbour. They eventually fall head over heels and reader has to put up with all the chaos.

Lots of yapping below the cut. Read if you dare haha
Fae are divided into two categories; Tricksters and silkweavers. Tricksters are the ones that the warnings derive from- friendly at first glance, but are quickly found to be malicious and aggressive. They’re primarily carnivores- with hunger being the main motive for attacks, but some individuals just take pleasure in bloodshed. In comparison to silkweavers they’re bigger and have a more gangly build, none or very little fur, wings comparable to a bats, and sharp teeth + claws. Silkweavers are the lesser talked about portion of faefolk. Peaceful and skittish, they tend to outright avoid conflict best they can. They're terrified of both humans and tricksters, as both are known to hunt them for food or for sport. They get their name because the adults produce silk from their wrists and mostly use it for building and crafts. The most distinguishing features are small size, fluffy antenna and fur, and two sets of wings. Silkweavers think of the other as a threat, and tricksters generally view the other as pests. Despite the strong dislike between the two, once a moon cycle there’s this big market event where both sides call a truce in order to sell/trade goods.
Most humans don't recognize the two types of fae and just assume that they're all dangerous.
Sun and Eclipse are both silkweavers, and Moon is a mix of silkweaver and trickster. Sun and Moon are half brothers (and also twins but not going into that right now), and they both live in a silkweaver village. They consider it a village, but it's just a large area of forest where a bunch of fae have smaller areas they call their own. It's mostly a privacy thing and they're very particular with who they let into their homes. Sun and Moon live on the outskirts of the territory, in a portion that is right next to an abandoned human house in the woods. One day Eclipse shows up in the village, lost and injured but everyone in the village is wary of the newcomer. The two brothers end up welcoming him in because they're big softies and there's no way Eclipse would have survived on his own.
Reader moves into the abandoned house because it was super cheap (definitely has nothing to do with the strange activity reported in the woods) after they lost their job and friend to a fire. Gardening and taking walks along the forest path is their way of clearing their mind but a certain someone (Moon) takes an interest in them. Never showing himself, he starts leaving gifts and messing with their stuff when they're not looking. Eventually the reader meets Sun, and he properly introduces them to his mischief loving brother and even later, Eclipse.
Sun can be found at every market event selling goods, handcrafted items and cute little decorations one may want to decorate their nest with. He's very popular and well loved in the community due to his good looks and outgoing personality. Though he's flattered by the attention, it all just feels surface level. Most of his time is split between foraging for food, visiting with his neighbors, and making items to sell at the market. He also likes to collect colorful trinkets and incorporate them into his crafts. He often convinces Eclipse to help him make items for the market because they both enjoy it, and it helps take some of the load off of just one person. Looking underneath the happy go lucky exterior, Sun is actually a very anxious boi and is constantly worrying- especially over the health of his two roommates. Moon and Eclipse are both not doing well in their own ways, and Sun feels under a lot of pressure to try and take care of them on his own. The upcoming winter is the first with Eclipse, and Sun is stressed because he's not sure if he's making enough in market trades to be able to provide for three people. It's one day where Sun takes on more than he can handle and finds himself in a sticky situation- one that you have to help to get him out of. Despite every instinct in him saying to stay away from the human…afterwards he finds himself returning with a thank-you gift and this is where a tentative friendship begins to bloom.
Moon is not treated as well as his brother simply because of his half trickster genes. The other fae make it clear that they don't like him, and the only reason he's there in the first place is because he was born into the community, and it would be terrible to try and separate a family from their child. Since he was raised by silkweavers, he had a very peaceful upbringing and learned young how to control his strength to not hurt any of the other fae. Since he's stronger than the average silkweaver, he was assigned as a watcher to patrol the border and ward off any threats. He mostly enjoys his job, but he also finds it really exhausting because he just doesn't have the energy for anything anymore. Sometimes while Moon claims he's patrolling the border, he's actually out bothering you. He can't tell anyone because he's already on thin ice and KNOWS it would be the last straw if they found out he had anything to do with a human. Ever since you first moved in, Moon has been watching from afar. In the beginning it was out of caution, but seeing how respectful you were to the forest around you (unlike any of the other humans he's seen), it turned into more of an interest. Eventually it goes on long enough for Moon to develop a bit of a crush. Despite wanting a connection with you, he's far too scared to ever actually introduce himself. Instead, he just leaves gifts and messes with your stuff. He does it because he thinks it's funny, but also to show that you're not alone- hopefully in a heartwarming and non-creepy way. The two of you only officially meet after Sun finds out what's going on and pushes Moon to introduce himself.
Eclipse was born on a tropical island before humans took him away when he was young(ish), and sold off as some exotic pet. For years he wasn't taken care of properly and it led to a decrease in health and faded colours. Eventually he was given up by the people keeping him because he was simply not nice to look at anymore. Eclipse was rescued by a small organization that specializes in helping fae, and they helped him get back on his feet. He finally started to feel like he found a home when there was a fire. Somehow he escaped, but not without significant injuries. He finds himself lost and broken in the woods, where Sun and Moon take him in as a part of their little family Even though Eclipse now finds himself in a safe environment, he still has a hard time adjusting to life in the woods. He's emotionally wrecked from losing everything to the fire, and the woods don't cater to his needs like the rainforest he's from would. Recovering is an uphill battle- one that Sun and Moon realize they’re slowly losing. In a last ditch attempt to help they try introducing him to the human that the two have grown so fond of. Since you both have gone through fire related experiences, maybe it would help to talk to someone else who could relate? Eclipse's health does get better from there- because of both the better emotional state he's in, and you know how to take care of him better. ALSO he's an absolute sweetheart. A little shy sometimes, but is a huge cuddlebug and would melt if you give him a lil smooch on the forehead
I've had this au in my mind for maybe a year or two and only recently I've started working on the plot. I don't know what took me so long haha. Still is a WIP though so there might be some minor changes. Might also tweak Moons design a little I DUNNO we’ll see
