This angel from Highgate Cemetery however was very challenging as I had a certain idea about how I wanted it to look, the idea was the green silk background would show through all parts of the embroidery to give the impression of the moss on the statue. So I had to leave space in the embroidery for that to happen but work enough stitches for the design to be detailed enough. This #mostdifficultmake was mostly just difficult because of the scale & repetition involved! It was a custom wedding backdrop we made a while ago & a great opportunity for us to try something new and push our skills. We had to cut our own squares for cranes to get the right scale & dimensions, fold a few hundred of them & then wrangle with a baker’s dozen of 2m+ strands of invisible thread (the devil’s thread of choice 😂) all the while keeping the folded cranes in pristine condition. Day 29 of #MarchMeetTheMaker and it's #MostDifficultMake and I think that would have to be this Minecraft cake complete with Diamond Sword! #marchmeetthemaker | #mostdifficultmake | day 29 - this painting took ages, it was my first large painting 50x60 inches. The challenge was that I wanted the tulips to be crimson to match the furniture in my home, but in the photograph the tulips were orange. So it was a struggle to get the colours right and even now I can see it’s more orange than crimson.
