   she wraps her arms around his frame, somehow large and reassuring yet small and almost child-like, with the way his body shakes and he curls into her embrace. the dead of night brings a silence between them, blanketed by the sheets they share, until he mumbles oh-so-quietly, “i don’t deserve to be loved,” words that hurt her each time, though its not often she hears them.   tifa shushes him quietly, smoothing fingers over chocobo spikes, running through the strands slowly. she brings her chin down slightly as he buries his face into her neck, places a kiss upon the top of his head.   “you deserve it more than anyone,” she murmurs to him, a slight and sad smile upon his face. she knows the nightmares brought this doubt to light this time, can only lay here next to him, to be the comfort he needs. “even after everything you’ve gone through, you’re still here.” she takes his hand and presses his palm to her chest, her heart beat strong. “and i’m still here too.”   he looks up to her and she smiles in response.   “i’ll be here to remind you just how deserving of it you are. for as long as you allow me,” she adds, before he leans up and presses his lips to hers. a chaste kiss, he’s still so overwhelmed by it all, the fact that he comfortably lays in her arms, can share moments like these with her of all people. the inner child in him screams from joy, the childhood crush he never thought would become a reality with the woman she now is, so powerful and so beautiful.   he pulls back and sighs a low “thank you, tifa,” and she nods, running a finger along his eyebrow lightly and carefully.   “any time.”

   ‘dilly dally shilly shally’ he mutters and she can’t help the grin upon her face as she presses her forehead to his, a soft touch in a moment she has craved for so long, and has regretted the careless waste of time the Goddess has caused for them.    time she cannot get back, she wishes so-- but does her best as days go by to make up for it. another soft kiss she presses to the curvature of his jaw, relishing in the warmth he emits-- it feels like the sun during a Spring day back in Nibelheim. he feels like home. he is her home.
