dulcet , terranian held within it reminiscence, the kind that budded within one’s chest and prospered into solace’s warmth. the flicker of the television reflects in lumine’s immersed gaze, almost oblivious to the increasing weight against his shoulder.  "Kody?“  when inquiries go unanswered does his attention drift, abruptly stiffening, fluffy ears perked, when he realises that he’s infact, asleep.  there’s tension in tiny balled hands. if he dared move would kody awaken ? in spite of spending so much time closed away inside that room he hadn’t slept much - had he ?  soft brows court in concern, attention shifting to his own pallid knuckles.

                             right now, was there anything he could do for kody .. ?

what was once filled with rapture is now but dissonance rumbling in the back of lumine’s mind, tracing through the memories of that evening, of all that had transpired leading up to where they were now, nestled together on sera’s couch.  was this his fault ?  the malignant wolf, aureate irises lambet with ire, his maws gaping, coated in a lustrous sheen of blood. was there anything else lumine could have done in those moments to protect kody ? to protect his father ? anything …  

lumine shakes such thoughts from his head,  tussling locks into disarray. none of that mattered at the moment. he had to keep kody safe ! for today and tomorrow this place could be their sanctuary, until the time came, that was all that mattered.

His voice is the way Noct remembers it: deep and soothing, perpetually unruffled. There is an elegant edge to it, something that comes of being in the public eye, but there is something else, beneath that. There is something warmer and more personal, that hint of amusement always present when his father told a terrible, straight-faced pun or read Noctis stories when he was still just a child.

So I was given like .2 second’s notice that @asidian birthday is today (still got half an hour on that so there), but I wanted to do something b/c those stories really got me solidly back into writing fanfiction, and they continue to inspire me and make me laugh and cry and make Lenny faces because they’re just amazing.

I chose to make a fanart of Messages cause it’s a really simple premise, but so heartwrenching and full of impact, which really encapsulates this lovely human’s narrative strengths. Plus its sad Noct. Sooo.... ^.^
