MoonSlayer
She doesn't remember much of her past. She says it comes in flashes, but they never stay. When I first found her, she was very hostile and sarcastic. Maybe she was a bit bitter for being in a dusty attic for 12 years, who knows. She was angry that she couldn't remember her name and when I had given her the name MoonSlayer, she was so upset with me. She cursed me out in front of my Pop and he threatened to put her in the fireplace, but I stopped him.
"I am NOT MoonSlayer!" She practically screamed in my face, you know...if she could actually get in my face.
"Then who are you?!" I remember screaming at the bow. The air in the living room was so thick. Pop finally spoke after about three seconds of silence.
"Aurora, go calm down. And you," I remember him squeezing the bow tight in his right hand before finishing. "You ever curse her out again, I won't hesitate to throw you into the fire." Pop's voice was almost growl he was so angry.
After that Moon didn't speak to me for a good couple of months. It wasn't until one night, that I heard her fall into the wooden floor. I woke up and I went to go pick her up and lean her against the wall again, but then I heard it. She was crying. I went over to my bed and sat down, lying her across my lap. She didn't speak to me, so I decided to start the conversation.
"Do you sleep?"
"Why do you ask? I'm a bow, I can't." Her voice was sharp and shaking.
"I was asking because I was wondering if you had a nightmare."
"No. It wasn't that..." Her voice softened just a bit before she spoke again. "I had a flash of a memory. I remember pain and sadness."
"Do you remember why you were sad?" I asked cautiously.
There was a long pause. I had wondered if I overstepted my bounds. I was just about to get up and put her against the wall when she spoke up again.
"I lost something important. But I can't remember what it was." The tone in her voice was no longer hostile. She was just upset. Not being able to remember things and just seeing flashes of a past that is long gone, I'd probably be frustrated and hostile too.
"Well, we have a lot of time to figure out who you were. So don't worry about it too much." I yawned and stood up. "It's late, I need my sleep." I placed her against the wall across from mym bed. "Goodnight MoonSlayer."
I figured that she wouldn't answer me back. As I closed my eyes and laid my head down, I hear a very soft,
"Goodnight Aurora."
