Why is everything I ever post just old art? Anyways, here, I'll leave some art of my OC here to rot.
(P.S., she died painfully like the rest of my OCs 🥹)
ANYWAYS, WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO POST WAS THIS FIC I WAS WRITING! It's about my OCs, don't read if you don't wanna! Please enjoy, though!
THE FALSE IDOLATRY
Prologue
“Farewell, farewell, dear companion of mine, O the weariness shall someday fade away, and the long-awaited rest shall arrive…”
A large, porpoise colored paw tramped into a small, shallow puddle of mud– a moist splat showering grime onto the grass around. VenomFume stamped past the plash of muck, leaving behind fresh muddy pawprints in a dirty soil trail. His eyes were narrowed; the reflection in his hazel pupils blazed like infernos…a wildfire no cat could ever breach into.
Isolated with only his guilt and despair, the imprints his pawsteps left behind seemed as if they were to be set ablaze, leaving a sense of frustration and betrayal.
Slowly, he came to a stop and carefully raised his head, his expression dead and unreadable; he reared down and thrashed his head back and forth, his tail swaying wildly as an agonizing howl was released from the very back of his throat. Birds flushed away from where they perched up on the birches above, the beating sound of their wings masked by VenomFume’s painful caterwaul.
With tears dwelling in his eyes, pupils straitened into devious slits, he whipped around and leaped, his claws unsheathed roughly as he stretched his body forward, his flank tightening to reveal sturdy ribs. Blade-like talons dug into the lush turf of greenery, yanking himself forward with sudden force, sprinting like he’d vanish if he stopped.
Mud bespattered into the air as he hurtled himself across the same puddle, once again pressing muddied imprints into the damp, umber loam. Reaching the end of how far he could sprint, the gorge in front of him seemed to be instigating him, teasing him to make an attempt to jump.
With such force, his hindquarters straightened as his upper body plunged into the air, springing across the hard, rocky gorge. As he landed, he was not close enough, and he crashed into the large rocky surface with only his front limbs clinging onto its side, his hind legs scratching up and down at the boulders beneath him that made up the ridge. Rocks scattered down from where his paws held onto, making his grip loosen up. He clawed at the edge with his hind legs, but his effort was in vain. Panic started to take over his bitter expression as he gritted his teeth and blinked in panic.
An image flashed through his mind as he scrabbled around, him bleeding as he hit the rocky ends of the gorge– the loud crack of his bones as he slammed onto the hard sediment; his consciousness starting to drift away, the ultimate doom awaiting him.
A slight cackle escaped from his throat, followed by a more maniacal chortle. With fear in his eyes no more, he slowly started to loosen his grip, grinning in a surreal manner.
“That’s it…THAT’S IT!” He brayed, realizing that this could be his one chance, his claws sheathed shakily. He squinted his eyes as he began to descend, and a wide, teeth-baring grin took over his face. Shadows devoured him as he fell further, the shrieking of bird calls piercing through his eardrums.
The prologue's a bit short, but the chapters are a fine length!
