Surprising nobody, the subject of my piece is the Ghost with the Most! He said he had a photoshoot to get to at the end of the movie... wonder if he ever made it.
Monster March | Day 13 | Dryad
in a twist, I'm posting a SFW 1st person submission to @monstermag instead of the usual monster march fair! may get a nsfw expansion, will get an expansion for each season
I didn’t remember the coffee shop opening on the corner near my bus stop. I had complained for a long time that my commute didn’t have anything with central heating in the winter or AC in the summer when I had to wait twenty minutes for my transfer. Surely, I would have remembered seeing the construction to open a cafe, yet alone place a whole building in the park behind my bus stop. But apparently, I hadn’t.Â
Curiosity as I approached it on the bus gave way to desperation as I stepped into the torrential downpour that awaited me. I made a beeline for the doors of the mysterious coffee shop, apprehension and curiosity buried under the animal instinct to not get drenched to the bone. The heat fogged my glasses as I stepped inside and resisted the urge to squeeze water out of my hair.Â
“Hello, welcome in,” a cheery voice called from behind the counter.Â
I took off my glasses and tried to clean them on the hem of my shirt. My sodden clothes only succeeded in smearing more water on the lenses while I squinted at my surroundings.Â
It was decorated for spring, unlike the sullen reality of the weather outside. Cherry blossom decorations dangled from the high ceiling, nearly brushing my head with pink petals. The walls had gauzy pink fabric draping them, and the floor was painted like a spring meadow. The tables almost appeared to be tree stumps growing out of the floor with daisy patterned lace table cloths covering them. It was empty, not unusual for a coffee shop in a park on a rainy day, and no one sat in the wood carved benches or stools.Â
It was so empty I jumped a little out of my skin when a hand landed on my shoulder. I dropped my glasses and watched the stranger to my left swoop to grab them with one hand while balancing a tray of dishes on the other. I wondered if their spindly height made it easier or harder for them to balance like that as they pulled an almost ballerina-like pose to manage it all.Â
They set my glasses on the tray and pulled a cleaning cloth from their apron pocket, handing both back to me with what looked like an easy smile.Â
Their fingertips brushed mine as I took the glasses and cleaning cloth from them and I felt a blush as pink as the decorations flood my cheeks. I looked down at my glasses to avoid squinting any longer at the stranger.Â
“Thank you,” I mumbled, more at the pink cloth than at my savior.Â
“Any time,” their voice was charming: almost a bird-like lilt to the smooth as syrup tones. “I know the pain of rain splattered lenses.”Â

I don't know what The Internet Archive's policy is on smut, but they have a vast collection of zines, including modern ones.
I will pass this on to our team! Thank you for the idea!
