Werewolf neighbor
monster x reader
"Are you sure you want it all in?"
"Yes! please!! just stuff it all in"
"I'm not sure it'll fit" Jake, your werewolf neighbor, looks at you with concern
"Sure it will, just push a bit harder"
"I don't want to break anything"
Cardboard boxes pile up beside the trunk of your car.
In the three years you spent living next door to each other, Jake and you hardly exchanged more words than the neighborly "good morning". But that never stopped the lingering glances and stolen looks between you. The thought of asking him out would pop frequently into your mind only to be washed away by the next wave of excuses.
Now, as he stands in front of you, t-shirt clinging to his ripped torso, you can't help but feel a pang of sadness. Your eyes follow the path of a drop of sweat that rolls from his brow, glistening in the sun.
When the last box is finally stuffed into your hatchback, you turn towards him.
"Um... thanks again for helping me."
His eyes linger on your lips before meeting yours.
"So... moving all the way across the country from me, huh?"
Your heart skips a beat. Surely you must have misheard him.
"Um...yeah... so it seems. It was really nice meeting you, Jake." You awkwardly offer him a handshake.
He takes it as his gaze locks with yours like it has so many times before.
"Bye."
"Bye," he answers, but doesnt let go.
Time stretches as you just stand there on the street, unable to tear your eyes from his.
"Bye."
"Bye." A faint smile at the corner of his lips as he gently tugs on your hand. You let him draw you closer, his warm, musky scent enveloping you.
