Ive gotta say it is such a man thing to do for Liam and Matt to be like "yeah Caleb forcing Veth to go into early labor is like a fun evil thing for him to do" and not "this is extremely fucked up and super loaded in our patriarchal society". Like. He fucking forced her to give birth. Not a light subject!! Like I know we online are makeling jokes and I know the torment nexus of it all is juicy but also like. Guys (as in Matt and Liam). Are we actually thinking about things from the female perspective here. Are we actually thinking about the trauma of childbirth here. Or is it just "hey wouldn't that be fucked up huh?" Idk if I'm maybe taking it too seriously or being a killjoy (especially for someone who hasn't seen the episode yet. Though from what spoilers I've gotten I don't think my opinion will change) but like it all just. Doesn't sit super well with me that two cis men were this...... Flippant? About pregnancy? Idk
you and me are sharing brainwaves across who knows how many miles. i'm exactly where you are on this. i don't want to be a killjoy about it, but i am having killjoy feelings about it. like you said, it's such a male perspective on it, and yes, flippant is the word i would also use. it feels too flippantly planned for how, like. genuinely horrific it would be to do to a woman. and i know veth is played by a man, but it's still something that happened to a woman and it feels like a woman should have been consulted before they decided this was a great idea to "spice up" combat
