Portrait photography is an important part of many photographers’ businesses. Selfies don’t cut it for websites or business profiles. If you are serious about your image, a professional portrait is a must.

As a boudoir photographer, I specialize in intimate portraits.

This was my very first real model experience.

A friend of mine from high school had posted some pictures of her modeling, so I asked her how I could get parts. Meaningless to say, she put me on. I wanted her there with me for comfort but she couldn’t be there and had told some other ladies to look out for me.

These women are wonderful. They could tell I was shy, and immediately started working on making me comfortable. My favorite is Miss Blanco because she’s like me in stature and figure I guess. Skinny, she’s got more boobs and ass than me, but hey. She still gave me that confidence. The way she talked to me was like nothing but intellect was rolling off of her tongue and I was trying to catch it. And Kris Legend who put this together and provided accessories was great as well.

These ladies got me out of my comfort zone, and into damn near nothing and shoved me in front of the camera. Although the host, her mother and the photographer were all saying that I was a natural, I was still shy and nervous as hell. And it definitely shows. I didn’t even want to open the jacket for any pictures. And I could barely walk in those heels. But I was around the great and uplifting energy emitted by these Queens I look up to, which gave me the confidence to pull my shit together for the 3 minutes I was in front of that back drop and get some decent pictures.

They taught me the importance of a skin care routine, and ever since I started using one, wow do I see the difference. I am proud of myself and more confident than I’ve ever been. I put myself out there for more modeling opportunities, and I’ve even become a little more social and outgoing. Though these pictures are just the start of it, I thank these women for helping me find my confidence during a time I was even struggling to stare at myself in the mirror for too long. A time when I felt like I didn’t look right in any hair style or outfit I wore, no matter what I did to try and make it look presentable. A time when I hated myself and felt like I wasn’t good enough for anything or anyone. A time when I felt like I deserved to be alone and out of arms reach of everyone.

Yesterday’s talk really helped me to find the right words for the new version of my creative writing and also the right direction for this project. Last time when I read out my creative text and was told I should bring in more of my own style and my own thoughts rather than use Rosler’s original format and structure. Using elements from the interview, I wrote a new version which is now more personal and holds my thoughts and feelings.

What is Vogue?

Vogue is Fame. It’s Glamour. Beauty. Money. It’s everything you could wish for. It’s a dream of something you can have, someone you can become… It’s an Illusion.

What is Beauty?

Beauty is Perfection. Photography. Photoshop. And Pose… It’s the Look. The Eyes. The Jealousy. Jealousy for not being famous, not being beautiful. Jealousy for being ordinary. For not being a Goddess. A Beautiful Goddess...

 What is Modelling?

Modelling is the Beauty Standards. Make-up. Hair and Clothes. Luxurious designer clothes. It’s art. A model is an art work to be photographed. The finest art to be loved and sold…It’s Money. Attention. Admiration. And Staring Eyes.

It’s an escape from everyday life to the imaginary world. You become better you than the one you were yesterday and the one you will be tomorrow. It’s a magic, illusion, a much-needed change. It’s throwing away the past and living for the moment, for the flashing light, and camera beeps. Living for this illusion that only lasts for a day and then vanishes like a mist. It’s the love you feel, when you stare at your reflection in the mirror and wish this could last forever. The magic is gone when you unpin your hair and start to take off the star dust from your eyes. The photograph is your only memory because all you are left with is the same old “you” you wish you weren’t.

What is Vogue?

Sessions are designed to be fun and confidence boosting and no experience is necessary as I will gently guide my young model through everything they need to do to create great images, and look their best in front of the camera.

They are invited to bring along three outfit changes that they feel show them off to their absolute best and that they would love to be photographed in.  We start the session with a mini makeover including dry hair styling and professional photographic make up.  Then it’s time to hit the studio, work through the outfit changes and play with different backdrop and lighting styles to great a great individual set of images that capture them looking fabulous.  After the session, the images are taken back into my editing suite to give them a good dose of love and magazine polish and then they can select their three favourite images to download, print and keep.

You’re welcome to order additional images in print, canvas or digital form but, unlike other studio model experiences, there’s no sales or viewing session to sit through with it’s attendant high pressure sales pitch.  Your images are viewed and selected through your private online gallery.
