(trying my absolute hardest to imagine book simon and not my au...)
he saw roger playing with bugs one time and thought he should join him, considering they both shared an interest in nature. he walked over to him only to slowly realize that roger was squishing beetles into the ground with his finger
he isn’t afraid of jack nor roger, but still finds it hard to stick up for himself. he’s known them for way too long to not notice their bullshit
simon would be great friends with maurice if he wasn’t friends with jack. when they’re all by themselves, maurice is the kindest any choir boy has ever been to simon. that is, until he goes back to jack (possible maurimon)
when simon was little, he was given a cat whom he named ‘little simon’ because it copied his every movement. his family had to give away the cat because it would destroy everything in their house
whenever simon wasn’t home and his parents were sick of it
simon grew up in a pretty big household with his parents and his three other siblings. he’s the second youngest of the four and is not really acknowledged in his family
he has an older sister and brother who are both teenagers by the time he’s on the island, and his little brother is three years younger than him
his only sister and oldest sibling loves nature just like simon does. she often goes out into the forest and records the woods, specifically at night. sometimes simon goes with her, but he isn’t allowed out after dark
when simon’s mother went into labor, she decided to give birth in their local church, hoping that her boy would become a saint. when he was born he was baptized once as a baby, and again when he turned 10
is one of the only religious people in his house besides his little brother (this is an au thing. its okay.)
