(1/2) hi, i just have a headcanon i wanted to share real quick, hope that’s alright! i think lewis had undiagnosed adhd. when adhd goes untreated it can lead to substance abuse, anxiety, and depression, which would explain why he never left his room and didn’t have very much motivation to find a job. it could also contribute to his wandering mind and how he was easily able to daydream and chop fish at the same time (since adhd brains need more stimulation than normal to concentrate.) — 🌙
(2/2) also, this is just a little thing, but edie said he loved playing video games, which a lot of adhd people do because it gives them something to with their hands while watching what’s on the screen! — 🌙
:OOOO
Now this is something I do have experience with!
I have ADHD myself, and I won't lie, I see a scary amount of similarities between me and Lewis. Like, a scary amount. And I could def seeing ADHD being one of those similarities.
Also that second mention felt like a callout for me personally lol

I KNOW WOO U R I KNOW WOO U R ANON AND U AIN’T GONNA DO THIS 2 ME @ Mod Krupp, save yourself
sorry for the third ask in a row, but i wanna put in my two cents about lewis and psychosis. i think he does have psychosis, but he didn’t have it when he was a kid. sometimes weed can trigger psychosis in people who were already vulnerable to it, and i think lewis was one of those people. continuing to smoke weed could make it worse, which i think could explain why lewis seemed to go from a small daydream to something completely overtaking his world so quickly. — 🌙
OH SHOOT I NEVER GOT NOTIFIED OF THE FIRST TWO ASKS TUMBLR GET IT TOGETHER
I don't have much knowledge about psychosis myself but that sounds reasonable to me
Also I don't know if this is just a coincidence on your end or not but his birthday is tomorrow so...cool :'^)

Happy birthday to Edith Finch (Jr) , the girl that brought us all together!
Honestly, I know she's the person through which we explore the other stories, but I don't think Edith enough attention. She is an interesting character in her own right and I think we all should show her some love on her birthday!
Oh and also happy valentine's day or whatever

@the-vampire-fish-queen said: Sure! so how does it make you view the King’s character in a different light?
I think the King becomes a lot more sympathetic when you realize that he is Milton, who stumbled upon this world he created at the age of 10. Without actual adults not created by him to help raise him, and with god like powers at his hands, it’s easy to see how he could end up... like that. The way the king responds to criticism (especially considering Milton was probably praised a ton in the real world, and rightfully so) of his work, the rules he makes, his problem solving skills, it’s all very childish. Which makes sense, because, when he needed one the most, he had no one to teach him to be an adult.
Also! As a Finch (aka someone who has death circling him at all times), it makes sense that he would be so desperate to make some kind of lasting monument, something that will outlive him. And I think this gives his dream at the end of the game, which is already depressing, a whole new sheet of sadness. I mean, we all do this to an extent, but Milton essentially spent the majority of his life... trying to beat death. And not much else. He only gets peace when it comes him, both in a dream and for real. Well, that’s what I assume happened at the end of that game anyway. It really is a death story worthy of a Finch!

I think it's interested that Dawn left Edith the key to the book/journal that unlocks the secret passage to Molly's room instead of just the key to the main front door. She obviously wanted Edith to learn more about her family. Everyone always headcanons Dawn as being really no-nonsense and against Edith finding out more about her family but I don't think so?
I mean. It IS canon that Dawn was largely against Edith learning about her family history. But what you said has reminded of some thoughts I once had.Thoughts that suggest this might be a bit more nuanced than that.
There is evidence in the “classroom” of Dawn being fine with Edith learning about her family tree
Buuut if you look deeper you’ll see she still has her limits.
“Our Family History: Fact or Fiction?”
The condescending way “curse” is put into quotation marks on that tri board presentation. And the fact that the picture under that section is one that’s also in the slideshow you view for Odin’s story.
So maybe Dawn wasn’t so much opposed to Edith learning anything, but rather, like Edie, wanted to take control of the narrative. And in that narrative, unlike Edie, who celebrated the way her family died, Dawn wanted to talk about the way they lived.
The Key thing though I think was just Dawn having a change of heart in her dying moments. I think although her feelings were valid, at the end she regretted letting that final argument tear what little was left of her family even more. So she tried to do something nice to honor her grandma’s memory. I like to think Edie had a similar experience during her final moments but sadly there isn’t any solid proof of that the way there is with Dawn.
Thank you for reminding me of these thoughts I had! If you have any more to say on this please don’t be shy!

Can I ask? what do you think happen to Milton and how it relates to The Unfinished Swan? I seen lots of theories from him being wash out to sea after building a sandcastle and others saying he may of had schizophrenia and that lead to his death, but I would like to hear your opinion.
I’ve seen those theories floating around too! Just in case anyone out there still doesn’t know though I just wanna confirm that Milton is stated by word of god to be the King from The Unfinished Swan, and to have disappeared into that world at some point.
I’ve talked to people who don’t like that and choose to ignore it, which is fine! And in that world, I think the theory about him getting washed out to sea presented here makes the most sense. The ocean is really the best place for a body to disappear, don’t you think?
... But, I dunno, I guess I share that Finch sense of wonder and magic and I kind of like the canon explanation. It might sound cheap, but I like the way it links the games together, and I like how it makes me view the King’s character in a whole new light (which is something else I can discuss, if you’d like!)
That’s just me though! Feel free to share your thoughts if you have any!
