Yes! I have been to Italy many times and have been to lots of places within Italy. Where are you planning to go there? I will give you all the recommendations I have when I know where you’re going. // Venice, Florence and Rome! 😁
Venice: I really recommend Murano island. It is a touristy spot but it’s so beautiful, a perfect place for pictures, and does have some of the most beautiful jewelry and serve ware I have ever seen. Some of the glass blowing studios have shops in them that will package and ship whatever you buy back home for you so you don’t have to worry about something getting broken in your luggage. I also spent a lot of time at a street market in Castello. There was so much to find there from fruit and veggie stands to clothing to souvenirs. There is also a lot of nice restaurants in that area, at least I thought there was haha.
Florence: Cross that river! Via del Corso is fun to wander and maybe have a little retail therapy but it’s so busy, that whole area is. If you’re into parks and some art, there is a park across the river with some really pretty fountains and sculptures that I thought was nice. Piazzale Michelangelo is a must for the views! Highly recommend. I’m sure there are other spots that the locals know or someone else here might but I did love the view from there. I can’t remember the name of the street but there were some steps I walked down and found a strip of really good restaurants around there. My memory is failing me but if I do remember, I’ll reblog this with the info.
Rome: For Rome, I highly recommend trastevere. Good restaurants and cafes, beautiful things to see, and some quiet pockets. Also, the Tiber river night market! I love it there. You can walk a path along the water and it’s full of vendors, restaurants and bars. Some of the bars and casual restaurants there are so fun for nightlife as well. I will never forget being serenaded by three beautiful Italian men singing karaoke while sipping an aperol spritz on a patio by the river. It’s a good spot for some fun memories.
I don’t know if you have been before or if this is your first time but if it is your first time going, I have some tips:
-familiarize yourself with their transit because it can make seeing the attractions very easy.
-Pay attention to your surroundings because the pickpockets are no joke. Every time I go, I use a safety pin to pin the zipper of my purse closed then use another to pin my purse to my clothes. It sound excessive but I promise it’s worth it if you’re carrying anything valuable.
-yes, there is free drinking water throughout the city, stay hydrated!
-I know this is always talked about but I’ll still mention it. Don’t eat at the restaurants with a menu in multiple languages. The food may be alright but you’re probably getting overcharged. It’s catered to tourists. The price difference can be so crazy. Like 20 euro for a pizza vs 5 euro.
I could go on an on about things to know but i’ll cut myself off here haha. My inbox or asks are always open though if you have any more questions. I hope this all helps and I hope you have an amazing trip! Love a Euro summer! 🤍 🇮🇹
