You grip the door handle to open the door parting you from the woman who tried to kill you. You take a deep breath and close your eyes for a moment, counting to ten to calm your nerves.Â
If Samâs enemies, his allies, and your husband shall respect you, you must walk through that door and prove yourself. This is not easy for you. Not at all. You donât want to witness torture and violence.
âYou can still change your mind, sweetheart,â Dean places his hand on your shoulder. âY/N this will get ugly. Sam is out for blood. Rubyâs blood. Usually, he wants me to get information out of people.â
âI have to,â you dip your head to look at Dean standing next to you. He offers a cracked smile and sad eyes. âEveryone believes Iâm soft and an easy target. Everyone needs to hear that I was part of this. That I stood my ground and-â
âI get it,â swallowing thickly Dean drops his gaze. âMy father always gave me the feeling I must prove my worth over and over again. Thatâs why I turned to Alastair and asked him to become my mentor inâŚâ
Dean is easy to talk to and understands your situation. Dean wanted to run from his family so often, but he knew this would mean leaving Sam behind too.
âTorture,â he nods. Dean barely talks about his time at Alastairâs place. You only know he still has nightmares and hates to be used as a blunt tool to hurt people. âIâll talk to Sam when this is over, Dean. We canât keep on running in circles. This includes using you as a torturer. You deserve better.â
âWe both do,â he chuckles humorlessly. âMaybe we should run away together.â
âYou, me, and that girl from the diner?â
âExactly.â
âDoes she know?â
âI didnât tell her about myâŚprofession. Itâs better this way,â he shrugs. âLetâs be honest. Sooner than later, sheâll have enough and move on to someone else. I canât marry a nice girl not knowing what she got herself into.â
âMaybe she would understand you didnât tell her the truth, Dean.â
âWe can still run.â
âI canâtâŚIâm still in love with your brother.â
You stand there in silence next to Dean for what feels like an eternity. Breathing in and out while your heart beats out of your chest.
âI hope heâs worth it,â he watches you open the door. Dean takes a deep breath and forces a cold mask to replace his features. Itâs easier to pretend to feel nothing when pain, blood, and death lie ahead. âThis is going to be a fucking long nightâŚâ
Head held high you step inside the room. Just like Dean, you hide your insecurities and fear behind a stoic face tonight.
âLook what the cat dragged in. I had hoped at least your ugly face got damaged a little more. Like my grandfather used to say. If you want something to get done, do it yourself.â
Another punch hits her face, but she takes it like a champ, you give her that. Her bloody smirk makes you shudder. Ruby spits blood onto the floor. It joins dried blood, spit, and something looking like ripped-out nails on the concrete in the basement.Â
This is not a nice place. Itâs cold, dark, and filled with the faded screams of the victims of Winchesterâs business.
You fight the urge to empty your stomach as Sam gets a knife out.Â
âSam, I-â you look at Ruby, almost feeling sorry for the broken creature restrained to an old chair. You remember the furniture. It used to stand in Johnâs kitchen, or at least you think so.Â
âAw, does your little wife want to watch you get your hands dirty Sammy?â Ruby sneers as you look away. âI canât believe you chose her over me. Look at her. Sheâs soft and wonât make it for much longer in life like ours. Everyone knows sheâs nothing but a burden to you.â
âWatch your tongue, bitch,â you never saw Sam like that before. He slaps Rubyâs face hard enough to split her skin open with his wedding band. âYou are talking about my wife and the woman I love. Sheâs family and you are simply a faded memory. A meaningless one nightstand I forgot about the moment I slipped out of you.â
âYouâre a bad liar, Sam,â she coos, batting her eyelashes. Ruby looks like she got under the bus, still, she tries to flirt with Sam. Blood runs down her neck, left arm, and chest. Her nose is bleeding heavily and one of her eyes is swollen, and black.Â
âNot me,â Dean whispers as you look at him in horror. âI came here with you, Y/N. I donât like putting my hands on women that way.â
âIt was my honor to avenge you,â John steps out of the shadows. Blood is splattered all over his white shirt, his face and arm, but he doesnât seem to care. You gasp as he takes off his bloody hand gloves, carelessly dropping them to the ground. âYouâve missed the show, Y/N. We were waiting for you.â
âI told her to wait a little longer,â now you know why Dean distracted you for so long. He didnât want you to watch the worst part of the show. âThis is not for her.â
âShe wanted to watch,â you dare not to meet Johnâs gaze as he steps closer to you to cup your chin with two fingers. âRight? You are one of us, Sammyâs future. Youâll carry his heir soon enough and continue our bloodline.â
âWhy donât you bang her yourself,â Ruby doesnât shut her mouth. She snickers behind Johnâs back while trying to wiggle out of the ropes holding her wrists. âI know how you look at your sonâs wife. I bet you are creaming your pants imagining having your way with her.â
âSilence,â John twirls around to punch Rubyâs face with full force. You whimper, not wanting him to hurt her even more. âYouâve got no clue what you are talking about. I donât fuck my sonâs girls.â
âDidnât you stop you from fucking Jess, or LisaâŚor me,â she grins up at John. His chest heaves up and down as he stares down at the bloody mess that used to be the woman Sam desired a long time ago.
âSir, I think Y/N should go now,â Sam protectively steps in front of you to block your view. âShe has seen enough.â
âNo. She needs to end this the Winchester way,â you feel your legs give in when John pushes his son out of his way to hand you a knife. âKill that woman. An eye for an eye. A life for a life.â
âI-â you glance at the knife in your hand. It would be a death sentence to say no to John Winchester, but you are not a killer. âCan IâŚâ
âSheâs better with a gun,â Dean steps in. âYou remember our training, right?â he takes the knife out of your hand to give it back to his father. âHere, take mine. Iâll help you.â
âI said this is enough,â the room falls silent as Sam rolls his shoulders. âIâm not going to let my wife do such a thing. She wanted to witness Rubyâs punishment, and she did. Iâll end this.â
âSammy, what?â before Dean can react Sam snatches the gun out of his brotherâs hands, unlocks it, and aims at Rubyâs head. âWaitâŚâ
âGoodbye,â Dean presses your face in his chest and tells you to cover your ears as Sam ends Rubyâs life. You are trembling and crying as another pair of hands tugs at your body moments later.
Everything is a haze after the gunshot. You end up in someoneâs arms and get carried out of the basement. Too afraid to look at the man carrying you, all you can do is cover your eyes with your hands.
âIâve got you, baby girl,â itâs Sam softly whispering your name. âIâm sorry. Father can beâŚâ He holds you close to his warm chest, failing to even talk.
âA fucking asshole,â Dean is right behind you and his brother. While John yells your husbandâs name, Sam walks upstairs and makes his way inside your bedroom, ignoring his fatherâs orders. âHow can he expect her to stab that bitch? Did he lose his mind?â
âHe lost it a long time ago, Dean,â you whimper as Sam places you on the bed. âI told you years ago. When I was fourteen. This will never end.â
âThis is all his fault. Ruby got mad as he ended their affair. She wanted to hit him where it hurts. Without an heir, John Winchester will sooner than later lose his empire,â Dean gives his brother a cracked smile. âCharlie dug a little deeper for me. And Ketch knew more than I told all of you.â
âYou knew all the time that she wanted to hit him, not me?â Sam shakes his head. âHow could you hide this from me?â
âI had to be sure, Sammy. Charlie found everything.â
âSo, did he want to touch my wife too?â frowning deeply Sam looks at his brother. âPlease tell me she lied, Dean.â
âI wish I could say no. I donât know, to be honest. Ruby wasnât wrong, though. He looked at Y/N like he wants toâŚâ
âWhat will we do now?â you look up at Sam. âIâm scared of John. He didnât look happy when I couldnât kill Ruby.â
âWe run,â Sam jerks his head toward his brother. âCharlie helped me transfer most of our money to an offshore bank account a few days ago. I knew shit will go down.â He shrugs as his brother gapes at him. âWe can take the Impala and get out of this fucking town, Sammy.â
âBetter late than never, huh? Lock the door,â Dean hurriedly locks the door while Sam walks inside the walk-in-wardrobe to remove a fake wall. He gets three duffle bags and clothes out, smirking as you look up at him with wide eyes. âOne for each of us. New papers, money, clothes, guns, all we will need to get out of town.â
âHowâŚwhat?â Sam hands you new clothes to wear. Jeans, a t-shirt, a red-checkered flannel, boots, and a leather jacket.
âDean, I got something for you too. We need to look different. No suits and polished shoes until we got away.â
âI can live with that,â Dean looks at the clothes Sam hands him. âJeans and plaids. AwesomeâŚâ
âI said no detours,â Sam watches a girl run toward the Impala. He huffs in the backseat as she jumps into Deanâs arms. âHe found the time to pick up a girl?â
âGet inside, sweetheart,â Dean hurriedly gets back behind the steering wheel. Benny, Castiel, and Gadreel made sure to distract John long enough for you to escape but he doesnât want to waste another minute.
âHi,â you watch the waitress Dean met up with for weeks get inside the Impala. She presses a duffle bag to her chest, smiling at Sam and you in the back. âNice to finally meet you. Iâm (*another reader*).â
âY/N, and this is Sam, my husband,â you watch her buckle up as Dean starts the engine to get out of town. âWe glad we finally meet you.â
âSoâŚwe are on the run now,â she asks as you watch her watch Dean. She moves her hand to his thigh and softly speaks his name. Itâs the first time Dean looks at peace since you know him.
âNot for long, (*another reader*). We will find a place to call home. See it asâŚâ
âA fresh start,â Sam smirks as Dean pushes the car to its limit.
Only a few hours and you are out of John Winchester territory. Castiel, Benny, and Gadreel will make sure your father-in-law looks for you at the wrong end of the world.
âA fresh start,â Dean agrees as you lean your head against Samâs shoulder. You close your eyes and allow yourself to dream of a better life; away from crimes, pain, and fear.
A life in which you can have a family and a life with the man you love.
