Last week on Thursday we had the pleasure of being able to talk with Felipe Cardona. The topic of our discussion was Collaborating and creating fast/original mobile AR/VR content.
Not only did we discuss Felipe’s projects but we also talked about what the future of AR holds. In Felipe’s opinion AR is an avenue that has a lot of potential in integrating into everyday life, through videos, phone apps, and even CV’s (as he showed us).
As for the apps Felipe has experimented with the first one was Mobilementary.
Mobilementary is an app that is used to make documentaries on the road with a IPhone. You don’t need to use any post-production, you can transfer the films directly to IMovie (on the phone). And create the music on Garageband, also on the phone.
The next app was Pocketvideo, an app used to create experimental quick videos and Gifs. Once you have the videos you can add images and draw on the video.
The last, which interested me the most was called Layar. On the app you can scan an image that has already been made into an interactive AR experience. Once scanned the said image displays pop ups, information and clickable links. The example he gave us was Felipe’s actual CV. Using Layar he overlaid his CV with interactable pop ups which were all unique to the part of the CV giving details and external links.
I enjoyed Felipe giving us insight into what AR is being used for now and the possible avenues it could lead to in future. Knowing what the future could hold for us in terms of future work is something that always has been fascinating to me because of how many avenues are available to head down. I look forward to actually seeing what the future holds for AR myself.
