MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS (2023 - ) Ep. 207 | Ep. 210
Kentaro's nightmare 2x06 + Reality 2x08
Something something Billy wanting to bring up a Titan and show the world what a real catastrophe looks like in response to Shaw's "death" in 109 vs. Shaw wanting to destroy Titan X by unleashing Godzilla on her in response to Hiroshi's death in 206.
Given the level of parallel storytelling in MLOM, It honestly feels like such a really weird choice *to me* to have Cate as the one to connect with Titan X and be the one who Titan X introduces her egg to and who is trying to help her get her egg back when, Keiko is a mother who literally just a few days earlier watched her child die in front of her because of what Apex did to Titan X was right there. Storytelling wise, it just would've made so much more sense *to me* for Keiko to be the one in this position instead of Cate. If they were going to centre Cate, Titan X should have been a young Titan, one who was lost and trying to get back home rather than a mother as it would have made more sense with how protective Cate became, especially as the first half of the season emphasised her guilt and her PTSD over not being able to save all of the children on the bus and it was running into that mother & child, one of the children from the bus that she did save that incentivised her into going back to help with Titan X and going to the extreme to do so.

I can't stop thinking about how deep the parallels between Kentaro & Billy actually go. Like, look at Kazakhstan, for example. Kentaro lost Cate (and May and Shaw) to the exact same rift that Billy lost Keiko. Both of their immediate reactions were to consider that they were still alive and that there was a chance to rescue them only to be met with an insistence that they were dead and gone. They both acknowledged their guilt, blaming themselves for what they did and what they didn't do and both went off on their own to prove they were right about the rift and that their loved ones were still alive. The only actual difference between them in this situation is that Kentaro was successful where Billy wasn't.
Also, season 1 opened with Billy's video message where he explicitly states he would go back in time and fix everything if he could and season 2 is ending with Kentaro wanting to go back in time to save Hiroshi (and stop G-Day).
