The worst thing about starting a series is when you find out the fandom is basically non-existence
Absolutely adored Mixte 1963 (Voltaire High.) It was utterly phenomenal.
Here are some garbled thoughts and reactions:
Paul Bellanger, my KING. What a gem of a character. I’m a bit sad that we didn’t get to explore his themes from episode 5 in more detail, but I’m still such a fan. An unproblematic legend.
On that note: episode 5 was a masterpiece. An incredible episode of television from start to finish.
Annick was such a wonderful, complex character. I could write essays about her! The way that men treat her is horrendous and she deserves so much better.
Shipping Jean-Pierre/Simone forever and always.
You may not be surprised to learn that Michéle/Joseph was what prompted me to watch the entire series. The ship definitely has a lot of potential, but I do also like her with Alain.
Do I feel a slight need to write Annick/Joseph fanfiction? Maybe. Will definitely be giving some Michéle/Joseph fics a read.
A moment for the writing! It was so tightly written. Every plot point had a purpose. Each episode unfurled so cleverly and in a way that taught you more about the characters.
Absolutely adored the costumes and the lighting. And the themes! Amazing stuff.

"I'm sure you are. But I don't like dancing. I never dance, I don't like it. I don't know. Maybe you could dance with Martine or with Françoise, they seem to like it."
