the way people treat mental health sometimes is absolutely disgusting
was telling our boyf's grandma that we've got conversion disorder so she's not shocked when we pull out our cane/walker/wheelchair depending on how well we feel, or how many spoons we've got, and she goes 'oh well that's just a mental block, you just gotta push yourself!'
with alllll the respect in the world, no bitch. that's not how this works.
we've tried many many times before to just go 'oh, our body is saying we need a break?? no thanks, I've got shit to do!!' and every single time we get physically too sick to do anything or another part of our body will start to mess up. typically our asthma flares real bad. so,, yeah. our brain is wired like this bc for YEARS our parents were the same. 'push yourself!! you're absolutely fine!! no problems whatsoever!!' when in fact, we were suffering.
we're still suffering. cPTSD, bpd, bipolar disorder, did, etc., all on top of bein chronically ill. we've worked and pushed for so long, now that we might have a chance to get help and not have to work so hard, we're gonna fucking take it. so so sick of acting sane and normal for the sake of others. we're not okay mentally or physically, and it's time we start acting like it for our own health's sake.
