Brienne and Sansa’s relationship. You can tell how much the trust between them has grown when Sansa let Brienne tell Jaime about Cersei and King’s Landing. We stan healthy female relationships.

Cersei being a smart bitch and using the common people as a safeguard against Daenerys. I don’t condone it but it’s in character for her.

Dany thinking politically when she legitimized Gendry. It was a smart move.

Sansa. She told them to wait because she was looking out for all the men who literally just fought Death. Time and time again she’s been shown to be the only leader thinking and planning for the people.

Arya knows who she is and who she isn’t. She has affection for Gendry but ladyship is not what she wants at the moment. I’m glad she had a healthy consensual physical relationship with Gendry. Perhaps a romantic relationship is still in the cards for them in the future.

Varys telling Dany to her face, just like she told him to in s7, that burning King’s Landing is a mistake. He is still a servant to the people.

The Shit

Brienne and Jaime’s relationship. Why did they make Brienne lose her virginity to Jaime if he was going to leave her right after? It is cruel and totally unnecessary. The audience already knew there was affection between them. Him leaving her would still be heartbreaking without doing this to Brienne. Brienne did not deserve this.

Missandei’s death. Why was her last word Dracarys? You mean to tell me Missandei, a former slave, would prefer to tell Dany to basically “fire” on a city full of innocents instead of having her last words be for her love Greyworm? What kind of bullshit is this? Why did she have to die, chained, to further Dany’s narrative? Dany was already furious about Rhaegal. Missandei did not have to die to make “dark!Dany” happen.

Jon Snow’s characterization. When Sansa raises the very valid concern that their men (Unsullied and Dothraki included) need time to rest and heal, he callously shuts her down. So Jon places the war for an iron chair in the south ahead of his men’s wellbeing? Cool.

Jon/Dany. When Dany confesses that Jorah loved her but she couldn’t love him back because she loved Jon, Jon doesn’t say he loves her. Dany has said she loves him multiple times but Jon hasn’t said it once. If theirs was meant to be the endgame ship this is terrible romance writing. Also, Jon lets Ghost go like he ain’t shit and doesn’t even say goodbye to him. Like, what the actual fuck.

Jon’s POV is still missing. And has been missing since season 7.

Bronn. Why. What was the point. So he just wanted to make a deal instead? How is that dude still alive when so many others are— You know what. Whatever. What’s even the point anymore.

Bran. I want Bran back. Let him want things, again. Let him stop living in the past. Please.

Basically the writing on this episode was sloppy, crude, and a disappointment. Such a disservice to all the characters. They have said the ending for all the mains will be the same in the books and I just—

I must admit that I don’t get the first half of your ask? tumblr probably ate something....

I agree about the sex scenes in season 7 and 8. We got Missworm, Gendrya, Braime and Jon€rys.... and Jon€rys was by far the worst although it was the most explicit.

By now I am glad we didn’t get any Jonsa kiss or something. The way the ships are falling left and right I would be worried for my preferred endgame!

I think of all these Missworm in season 7 was the most positive. it was a scene where the two people obviously cared for another and the sex was founded in a deep love for each other.

I think Gendrya was about the affirmation of life pre-battle. It was nice, consensual and there might have been the seed to something stronger and lasting. Gendry at least had the feeling that it was more than just sex, but I guess they can’t come together before Arya has got some closure on her list. I hope this is a red herring and Arya isn’t after Cersei at all but has some secret plan with Sansa, but anyway. I think in the case of Gendrya, I still have some hope, that they’ll find each other again. But maybe they both have to grow a bit before that.

I think Braime was more than just post-battle lust, much more. It was loving and sweet. Jaime was so obvious about it, that it was incredibly funny and nice. It was clearly something that made both happy. Jaime was practically glowing and I loved that he cut Tyrion short on his jokes. Brienne’s vulnerability is safe with him. I do think Jaime went on a mission to kill Cersei. He was happy to stay, until he heard that Cersei has the upper hand again and I think he wants closure for his toxic relationship and cut Brienne out. But there is a chance that she’ll understand that. He has to go South to finish the toxic relationship with his Mad Queen.

I do think this is a foil for Jon and Jonsa. Jon first has to got South finish his toxic relationship to his Mad Queen and his relative before he can enter a new relationship (and maybe Jaime made a mistake there). And isn’t it interesting that the better lover interests are in the North?

All these are foils for Jon€rys: Missworm shows how a loving first time can go and the first nervous kiss was a foil to Jon€rys not having a first kiss. Gendry kneeling to Arya in this episode out of heartfelt love and adoration was a contrast to Jon kneeling before Dany in heart-felt desparation to convince her that he does not mean to take the throne. Braime is a foreshadowing of Jonsa I think. Not to mention that Gendrya and Braime had a first kiss and after-glow.

And all these couples, who might be doomed after all (like Missworm sadly was) had about as much meaningful scenes as Jon€rys.

I’m not sure if we get Jonsa sex scene though. I guess we see them happily married in an epilogue. It would feel too rushed now, tbh, unless they really push it in episode 5.

I sincerely hope that having all these ships come to some sort of closure bodes well for Jonsa, the contrast to the clusterfuck that is Jon€rys is pointed at the very least, and there is no way that this is not intentional.

If you want to compare Jon€rys to other ‘couples‘ some very messed up and unbalanced relationships come to mind: Joffrey and Sansa, Littlefinger and Lysa, Littlefinger and Sansa.... and I think more people would see it, if Jon was a woman and Da€nerys a man.
