#missile warning

" WELL ,  YOU  HAVE  ALWAYS  A  KNACK  for  pointing  out  the  obvious . “  his  blood - stained  words  landed  roughly  into  the  tense  room ;  hopelessly  misplaced  in  the  context  which  he  had  put  them  in .  endlessly  confusing ,  having  taking  shots  which  he  had  no  right  taking  ;  jumping  into  battle  for  someone  who  he  had  no  logical  reason  to  try  and  DEFEND .   “  ...  we  don’t  have  to  talk  about  it . “  basile  pressed  out  the  words  before  she  could ,  his  only  goal  being  to  divert  the  subject  before  she  had  the  chance  to  speak  once  more  -----  the  burn  of  admitting  even  an  inkling  of  concern  for  the  girl  in  front  of  him  would  leave  far  more  of  a  bruise  than  any  punch  thrown  his  way .  the  slightly  swollen  knuckles  moved  over ,  palm  flat  across  amelia’s  back  in  order  to  move  her  out  the  way  for  him  to  reach  for  an  icepack  in  the  fridge .  perhaps  it  was  the  slight  ringing  in  his  ears ,  the  taste  of  something  red  and  IRON  on  his  tongue  ;  but  yet  another  bad  decision  came  to  the  surface  and  drowned  his  better  judgement  out .  a  forceful  confession  ,  an  acknowledgement ,  of  the  situation  of  raised  voices  and  insistent  hands  trying  to  pull  him  away  from  his  intended  target .  “  ... -----  i  only  did  it  because  no  one  else  was  going  to .  i  might  not  like  you ,  but  you  deserve  to  have  someone  on  your  side . “  perhaps  it  was  his  imagination ,  but  the  clear  annoyance  in  the  amethyst’s  eyes  seemed  to  fade  even  the  most  little  bit  ;  replaced  by  something  else .  “  WHAT ?  can  you  stop  looking  at  me  like  i’m  the  one  who’s  stepped  out  of  line  here  ?  he  deserved  what  he  got . “

‘ probably be pissed off if you didn’t. ’

Or, it’s a missile warning. 

(They sound so alike.) 

Steve woke up early in the morning, got ready, drove in traffic, and went to the job he hated.  He staggered into the office to his cubicle cursing the place.  It was another start of a terrible day.

Out of nowhere a text showed on his phone and computer.  It read: Ballistic Missile Inbound to Area! Seek Immediate Shelter! This Is Not A Drill!

There were shrieks in the office.  This was it.  Everything was going to end.  Steve felt a release, nothing was going to felt held back.

Just when his boss came to address the room Steve shoot up exclaiming, “Nobody wants to hear what you have to say, you cheap asshole!”

Everybody was shocked. “That’s right!  Fuck you!  Fuck you!  Fuck you!  Fuck you! Fuck you!” David yelled as he pointed people out.

As he walked out he knocked the copier over destroying it, ripped a phone off the cord and threw it out the window, kicked over trash cans, and grabbed the secretary laying a kiss on her.

“I’ll see you in Hell!” Steve announced as he left to the elevator.  After he got in his car and sped off.

Thirty minutes later Steve got a new text that read: False Alarm!  No Ballistic Missile Activity!
