anyway i like to think that michael has been back in town for a few months (fixing animatronics, lurking, etc) prior to the movie and he becomes the local cryptid.
he only appears during certain hours and everyone has a story about their encounter with The Guy. you're getting a late-night snack at the gas station and he's looking at the pistachios and saying some shit like "life is at its most beautiful when shattered" or something equally strange and off-putting

I don't think Michael is evil cause he's actually Ennard. I think this really is just a role swap and slightly different circumstances.
Because Michael isn't the only good character who's different. Golden Freddy's spirit willingly let's William Afton go and seems to move on. The Vengeful Spirit is Charlotte. She's the one going out of her way to hurt others, even another kid. Where as in the games she is merely protective of the other spirits
I also think if Michael was acting out of character Vanessa would have said something about it and maybe would have even tried to help him cause its either that or kill or be killed.
Not to mention Michael decays because of Ennard and other people can definitely see it happening. But the Michael in the movie looks normal. His eyes aren't even purple.
I think if Michael was meant to be puppeted by Ennard, there would be some sign other than just "he's evil" yknow?
