So I just learned that "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was originally written to be about vampires in love for a musical version of Nosferatu.

And I feel like it explains so much about this music video...

EDIT: Please see the comments, the origins of the song may not be true, though the song was later used in another vampire musical and it still kind of makes sense.

Also, how I learned this fact:

For context: The vampire boys from The Lost Boys musical credited 2002's Dance of the Vampires (originally Tanz der Vampire) as the first vampire Broadway musical, which featured the song, reused by writer Jim Steinman when the Nosferatu project never materialized.
