Kane Chronicles: Carter/Reader
May I request a Carter Kane oneshot? I read your previous one and it was really good, btw! Can u make it like the reader risked her life for Carter and Carter was really angry about it 'cause he thought he lost her but then she explains why she did it and then they kiss and everythings alright. Could you also make sure that there's lot of fluff in it.
(Carter is my favourite, just saying… Hope you like it!)
Carter’s hand held me to his side as the two of us walked to my room. I say walk, but Carter was practically carrying me as I stumbled. I bit back curse words as Carter tried applying more pressure to the open wound in my side.
“Careful!” I groaned as Carter helped me sit on my bed. I swayed gently as black dots swam into my vision.
“You realise that you lost a lot of blood, right?” Carter asked me.
“I realised that when I lost the third pint.” I joked as he helped me lie down. There was a bandage around my side that held me together.
“I still can’t believe you did that.” Carter told me as he checked my wound.
“Carter, can we talk about this later?” I grimaced at the pain that was growing. “Carter!” I grabbed onto his arm and felt my nails dig into his skin.
There were footsteps, too many to belong to just one person. The pain in my side began subsiding as I drifted in and out of consciousness. People were talking around me but everything sounded muffled. I turned my head to see Carter.
“I think (Y/N) could do with some rest.” Someone told Carter. Sadie, possibly?
I blinked and looked at Carter. He was sitting back in my desk chair. His eyes were closed as he pinched his nose.
“Hey,” I caught his attention and he looked at me.
“Hey,” Carter got up from his seat and I slowly began sitting up as he took a place on the edge of my bed. I hissed at the ache in my side and felt Carter’s fingers run along the place where my wound was. There was also a gaping hole in my shirt.
“How’re you feeling?” Carter asked.
“Everything really hurts and I could do with a new shirt.” I told him, managing a weak smile.
“I can’t believe you did that,” Carter got up and walked over to my wardrobe. He pulled out a shirt and came back to my bed. Carter held out the t-shirt and I took it. I waited for Carter to turn around before peeling off the remains of my old shirt and tugging the new one over my head.
“You literally jumped in the way of a sword (Y/N).” Carter pointed out.
“I know Carter!” I leaned against the pillows on my bed.
“Are you sure? Because, you almost died!”
“Yes, Carter, I’m pretty sure I know what I did. I saved your life in doing so.”
“Carter, if I didn’t jump in front of you, you wouldn’t even be here.” I pointed out. I sighed and rubbed my face.
There was silence as Carter sat on my bed causing it to dip. Carter sighed and leaned forwards, his elbows resting on his knees. I put my hand on his back.
“I did it because I can’t lose you.” I told him quietly. Carter laughed and looked over at me.
“I can’t lose you.” Carter turned around and I held out my hands. Carter smiled and took them.
“So, maybe next time, we should just push each other out of the way of impeding death?” I asked. Carter laughed, but then he stopped when he pressed his lips to mine.
“Yeah, I think we can live with that.” Carter put his head against mine. “Mainly because you’re on bed rest.”
“Oh, come on!” I got up as Carter got to his feet and made his way to the door. I wobbled and stumbled but Carter grabbed me.
“This is why you need bed rest,” Carter told me smiling. I rolled my eyes and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
“Just help me back to my bed?” I asked. Carter pressed a kiss to my head and gently helped me back to my bed. I sat down with my back against my pillows.
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” Carter asked.
“No, I was going to tell you that I can’t be on bed rest.” I poked his chest and Carter raised his eyebrows.
“You proved that you need to be on bed rest.”
“Fine, but you know what will help me get better?” I asked. Carter furrowed his brow in thought. I rolled my eyes and pulled Carter towards me in a kiss.
