Odd Couple

She understood the side eyes – interspecies couples were practically non-existent –, but still bit her lip whenever they passed a group that suddenly became silent until they were gone. Funny, how it mostly happened in their respective lands, where both were of high esteem among their people.

Gorons, hylians and especially gerudos seemed more welcoming to their rarity.

“Something troubling you?”

Mipha shook her head and held her fiancé’s arm more tightly. But she knew he knew.

“Ignore them. They don’t know better.”

Rich, coming from him, but she nodded with a smile.

We do. And that’s enough.

Last Day: Odd Couple

A little darker than the previous entries (but not so much, hopefully ♥).

Aand this is it!

Kissing

He loved her tiny lips pressing on his beak. And cheeks. And everywhere, to be honest. Ritos didn’t show affection like that, and it pained him a little to know this world of sensations they were missing.

He wanted to reciprocate, but the closest he could think of was pecking as softly as possible… which sounded dull for Mipha’s scales.

So, Revali decided to make up for it in other ways. Like hugs, little gifts, and spoiling her in any way he could – when it was appropriate to do so, of course.

Mipha, too, thought Zoras were missing out.

Day 6: Kissing

Smiling

Up to date his attempts ended in failure; it didn’t matter how far his arrows flew, how many at once or how accurate they were, all she could see was that hylian. Plain, quiet, boring. What did she see in him?

Revali would eat his own bow before accepting defeat. It would be so easy to challenge him, but that wasn’t what she was interested in.

It was shocking to see her smiling at him after a random act of kindness. Which, in turn, humbled him.

So that’s it. Maybe I can try this again.

Anything for her smile.

Day 5: Smiling

Culture Shock

“All in one?”

Mipha giggled “Not just one. There are more pools over there. See?” she pointed and he nodded, but was still unconvinced.

“Even families?”

“Well, there’s one for the royal family, upstairs…”

Groups of zoras sleeping in the same vicinity. No divisions, no privacy. Was he expected to do the same? Not to mention he hated getting his feathers wet.

Just when I thought I’d passed the fire test…

She tilted her head, smiling. Cute.

“I’ll show you your room. Until we’re wed, you’ll sleep there.”

They entered a small room with a hammock (and relief).

Learning

Wings were useful. Not just for flying, but also hiding. He flew to a secluded place and opened the book he took from the hylian’s tent. He knew (but wouldn’t admit) that his cooking was good, and he also knew Mipha had complimented him more than once after a meal.

Humph!

He flipped the pages until he found recipes for fish. Zoras and Ritos loved them. Maybe he could apply his own knowledge to the mix and create something special for her. He copied some plates and returned the tome before anyone got up.

All left was to practice.

Day 2: Learning

Jealousy

She knew what he felt about her admiration for Link. They were good friends, but she had given up on him long ago, when she saw how he and Zelda were around each other.

What she didn’t expect was to be on the Rito’s side of the fence. Like right now. Surrounded by chirping females, gawking about his skills and… feathers. It felt so inappropriate, the Zora Princess, stomach churning at the sight of flirting. What did she lack? Why weren’t his eyes on her instead?

Mipha held back a grimace and continued the meeting.

It’s only a crush.
