"Count and find" (1)

Characters: Sauce, Chalk

Read with following song playing in the background:

“Sauce, look!” says Chalk, a little nervously, given that he is forced to speak up to find a way out of their predicament.

It’s the radar, and it’s showing a number. It says “1”. Then, Sauce looks all around the boat, and in the depth of the water he spots exactly 1 spiky thing around them.

Chalk now looks at the thing more calmly, and he explains to Sauce how he ended up flying from an explosion. It was that his paw accidentally got caught in one of the spikes, and when he reset, the tail activated the spiky thing, and all of sudden he was blinded by a bright light and a powerful shock.

Sauce realizes what Chalk refers to. And once more, it’s clear as day who did it.

After a quick dialogue, both of them arrive to the conclusion that they will have to use the radar to find their way home, somehow only using the numbers that appear on the screen.

They carefully displace with the boat, and then the number disappears. A quick moment of panic washes over both Chalk and Sauce, fearing that the only thing they had to save themselves was broken. Yet, after collecting themselves, they come up with a different idea.

“What if, no number simply means there is nothing around us?” says Sauce. “It makes… sense…” replies Chalk.

They slowly drive a circle around the place where they were, hugging tightly expecting to explode into pieces and drown in the water, but after doing several laps, nothing happens. Confirming their theory and making them sigh a huge sigh of relief.

With that knowledge, they steadily drive around the mines, looking for areas where the radar doesn’t activate.

After a few minutes of this, Sauce and Chalk find a wall of seemingly endless “1”s appearing on the radar. Both of them start nervously shaking, fearing that they are trapped in a circle of mines.

But then, Chalk spots what seems like a coral reef just high enough to prevent the boat from passing over it without getting stuck.

“Could this be… the edge of the minefield…?”

“It would seem like it’s the edge of something… maybe here, there isn’t any mines…? The radar isn’t on…”

“it isn’t?”

Sauce and Chalk slowly drive through, finding there to be no mines right next to said edge.

“This must be our lucky day!” says Sauces excitedly. “But, I doubt it will always be like that…” replies Chalk.

“What if we could… Determine where a mine is just by looking at these numbers…?” says Chalk, pointing his paw at the radar. Sauce stares at the radar for a few seconds…

Characters: Sauce, EVIL FIEND, Chalk

The previous night, EVIL FIEND had pestered Sauce once more, yet, being mature and controlled, he was completely unbothered by her taunts. She left unusually annoyed, but with a devilish grin on her face. She has a drastic measure to finally get under Sauce’s nerves.

When Sauce went to bed and put his eyes away, he expected to wake up to the sweet chirping of the birds and a soft brushing sound from the Hub’s ever drifting environment. Yet, when he felt like his bed was stiffer than usual, he stirred awake to the sound of water around him.

Sauce was distraught, unsure of where he was, or what had happened to him, then, after a reset to respawn his eyes, the only thing he found was what he had heard. Water, water, and more water.

He was in a large boat, with a single radar and a pile of 100 coins, stranded in the middle of a seemingly endless ocean. With none of his siblings in sight, or any way of knowing why or how he got there.

After looking around the boat, Sauce found a small, purple, very well hidden letter beneath the radar. It read the following.

“Have fun getting yourself out of there, you little fragile green squishy freak!”

It was clear who wrote it. It was clear who had found a way to make Sauce unconscious, and carry him into a boat without him knowing, and it was clear that it wasn’t going be easy to find his way back home.

Sauce shreds the letter out of anger, and starts looking for a way to get out of there. Then, he realizes that the motor of the boat is fully functional, and little by little, he learns how to drive.

However, during this process, all of a sudden, a very powerful explosion is heard from the distance, and an ultraviolet colored dot taking off from the center of the explosion.

Sauce followed the dot, trying to make out what it could potentially be, and why it had exploded. Then, it became clear. 4 cylindrical paws, thin tail, and everything. It is Chalk, who is now flying along the skies straight towards the sea.

Sauce’s eyes widen, as he kicks the boat into full forwards and rapidly speeds towards the place where Chalk will land, arriving mere seconds before impact.

Fortunately, due to being unconscious, Chalk’s rebound effect is significantly reduced, which means that Sauce is able to catch him before crashing on the water.

“Chalk! What happened to you? Why are you here as well? Where did that explosion come from?”, asks Sauce, very concerned about his family. And after a long silence, Chalk slowly replies, “S-sauce…?”, Sauce attempts to hug, but is pushed back, nearly falling off of the boat. However, during this precise moment, Sauce spots something in the sea. Something dark, and spiky.

Chalk helps Sauce back up, sees the object, and his eyes widen in a way Sauce had never seen before.

“I-it was t-that! T-that spiky thing!” said Chalk in a very concerned voice that Sauce had never heard. All that he knew now, is to, no matter what, not approach those things in the slightest. With that barest knowledge in hand, Sauce starts trying to trace a way around them, but they are difficult to see…
